@AlphaZulu - Yes, but in order to destroy something it has to hit it first =) Anyway, my point is that military pragmatics have long abandoned the idea of super heavy armor and huge-*** canons - enter the MBTs.

That's why the Russians haven't put their 152mm canons into use, that's why the Americans have only recently (relatively speaking) adobted the 120mm gun ditching the 105mm. It's simply more effective to have a smoothbore gun with optimal balance between destructive power (caliber), accuracy, ammo capacity/variety and speed/maneurability instead of a big low canon that can hardly move over difficult terrain.

Also, note the fact that today there are many threats to a tank. Even infantry carried weapons can destroy or effectively disable even the most advanced tanks. So, tanking the available information into account I can hardly c0mmend such a super-tank project.

To give the Swedes some credit, they usually come up with something new and surprisingly good. Also I think that this tank would not end up as superheavy, simply because of the terrain of Sweden.

Kind of like the Leopard 2 which still has yet to see an actual shooting war against other tanks.

To be fair, in modern warfare, the destructive power of the ammunition you are using outranks the caliber of the weapon it is fired from by quite a lot. Weapons always had a tendency to go for more versatility and efficiency. There is only so much you can do with a bigger caliber gun, its just more effective to develop better ammo.

Good question - where to store ammunition of this tank. One of Strv 2000 schemes shows that the shells are stored in the rear box on hull. Almost without protection.
It seems that the total tank ammunition (ammunition of the first stage and second) is equal to about 30.

Well, 30 seems unlikely number since that yellow thing with the spike on it in front of the tanks seems to be it's shell for the main canon. Also, this chassis needs to house the engine, fuel tanks, ammo for the 40mm auto-canon (those are quite big as well) all kinds of electrical systems and the crew. That's a lot of stuff on the inside even for such a huge tank.
