The Type 69 Mk. II G is a rebuilt Type 69 II with modern armaments and combat systems supplied by China. The “G” suffix is abbreviated for “Gai” in Chinese or simply “Modified”.
The main features upgraded Type 69 Mk. II G includes:
• 120 mm smoothbore main gun (Rheinmetall L44 comparable) with Capability to fire ATGM’s.
• Improved gun stabilizers.
• Modern fire control system.
• Combat data link.
• Extensive ERA (Explosive Reactive Armor) protection.
• Improved NBC suite.
• 1,200 hp diesel engine.
• Thermal sights.
• New semi-automatic loading system.

• Improved navigation equipment + GPS.
• Electronic jamming equipment.
All Bangladesh Army Type 59/69/79 MBTs are being upgraded to this new standard at present locally at the Army’s Heavy Workshop facility, which is currently capable of building and modernizing tanks, armored vehicles and artillery systems.
so evereything except a hull is different :P
in other words it's a tank that can kill an MBT with relative ease but can't survive a hit...

Those are Kontakt-5 ERA, which means it can take some hits.
isn't ERA only effective against shaped charges ?
That's what it's primarily intended to combat, but this type of ERA does provide some protection from kinetic penetrators as well. It has armored plates above it that shear off at an angle when activated and that can damage the round or knock it off center, increasing the chances that the conventional armor will survive the impact.
It's not without its problems, but it's a very good way to cheaply improve the protection on aging designs like these.
