This group is for everyone who like tanks, sci-fi tanks, real tanks, funny tanks, you can put here tank mods, tank maps, simply everything with straps, armor and gun :D
Yeah the Bhishma variant of the T-90. India operates aprox.620 of them. There are sources claims that they are going to buy 354 MS variants as well. Though the later is unlikely as the Mk-II is going to enter full production from next year.
Honestly, i don't like this tank.
It looks like the designer originally wanted to go for a western like tank, then suddendly realized the T-90 potential and went this way.
Hence the T-90 like turret and the frontal glacis.
Also, this camouflage and the ridiculus turret mantle only makes things worse...
Well the Mk1 was meant to be a heavily armored, heavily armed tanks like the Leo-2. While it managed to accomplished that goal, the tank became wayyy too expensive, complicated and heavy to enter mass production. The Mk.2 is a revised and somewhat dowgraded variant, geared for mass production. India plans replace their entire inventory of T-55 and T-72M tanks with it.
Besides, this tanks "Kanchan" ("gold") modular composite armour has proven that it is immune to standard shell of the T-72 rounds even at point blank range. Also, in January 2000 at Proof & Experimental Establishment (PXE), Balasore, Arjun tank armor defeated all available HESH and FSAPDS rounds including Israeli APFSDS rounds.
This tank may looks funny, but it's a threat that deserves respect.
BTW Is it just me of the Mk-II shares a good amount of resemblance with the T-90?
I'd take a bet that the Indians based the added turret armor on the Russian design.
Wikipedia said that the Indians signed an agreement with the Russians for the "transfer of key T-90 technologies."

I like the tank but hate the camo. Makes them look like the official armored division of Legoland...
