"Lok, my old and faithful friend. Ready for that adventure? Don't answer that. Head to Almas in the Cularin system. It's near Allanteen in Republic space, can't miss it." Azrael leaned in and held a hand next to his mask. He whispered "Fingers crossed they don't catch us!"

The holographic representation of the Sith Lord on the Imperial side stroked the chin of his faceplate, as if in deep contemplation. "You may have heard of a fellow by the name of Darth Rivan. An odd ball, named himself after Darth Revan because of a corrupted holocron. Now, if you think he's extremely unoriginal wait till you get to his fortress on Almas. The place is made of nightmares and we're probably going to die."

"And bring the Dark Lady and Admiral Arkanus. It's been too long." Azrael turned to deactivate the hologram and prepare himself when he suddenly remembered a few other details he ought to mention. "Oh, before I forget. I'll be bringing along a regiment of Stormtroopers to cheer us on. Feel free to bring in some of your fellows."

Lok received the message and smiled, to be honest he longed for a break in the monotony of the duties of a lord eternal, and decided he needed this diversion. Perhaps it could help him in his duties as an eternal as well.

He contacted Arkanus and told her to prep the Dark Lady. Lok decided he would only bring Raime and Velstadt along.

He arrived at the coordinates and hailed Azrael. "Well old friend, I've taken your bait, let's see what wild adventure you'll take us on this time."

Arkanus chimed in as well. "Hello... My lord, it is a pleasure to meet you again." Arkanus winced, she still could shake the habit of referring to force users as 'my lord', she had some more success with Lok, but of course she was more familiar with him.

The Sith Lord from the Empire chuckled at the mention of bait.

"Excellent, you've fallen directly into my trap. Soon I shall slay you and the Enclave will fall into disarray!" Azrael added in the most villainous cackle he could muster. Him being as unhinged as he is, it came off perfectly.

"My regiment has set up a small base camp where you can land, I'll be at the entrance of the fortress waiting on you. Good luck and see you soon."

Lok kept an almost bored expression with Azrael's little joke, his lips forming a very slight smile.

"Ah well, killing one such as you may be doing the Empire a favor."

After receiving the location of the camp the Dark Lady made its way there. Lok disembarked along with DI, Raime and Velstadt. Arkanus stayed behind on the Dark Lady.

He walked among the stormtroopers, not caring how they viewed him, and made his way to Azrael's location. "So old friend, what do we have here?"

Azrael observed the party and felt extremely outnumbered. His eyes fell upon the bulky war droid and the two other companions Lok had brought; new people he had never met before. Azrael eyed their weapons, their armour, their stance and took it all in.

Finally, he replied to Lok. Only after a solid minute of silence.

"Hm? Oh this?" Azrael thumbed the fortress behind him. "Ancient Sith fortress where I hope to find the secret of Darth Rivan's battlelords. It requires at least two people to execute and frankly, you're the only one I trust enough to only almost kill me."

"Of course, any other loot we find is yours for the taking. I've heard there's this staff that can rip someone apart through some sort of dimensional tearing. Great stuff all around."

Lok raised an eyebrow. He knew Azrael would be uncomfortable with the companions, however Lok knew better than to enter ancient Sith fortresses unprepared.

"Well Azrael, I suppose introductions are in order. You remember DI of course. The others are Raime and Velstadt, My two strongest Eternals."

Lok observed the structure for a moment. "Well then, shall we?"

The structure observed them back, the party stood around shalling weing for a week.
As they may or may not have heard from old reports or archives, the rich thick vegetation native to the planet cast a soft glow on the group.

But Azrael raised a brow, records talked about a dead field around the fortress where nothing could grow, but it was more like a zone now. They had trouble seeing the vegetation line from where they were standing, next to the entrance. Except it wasn't, if they were standing near an entrance it would be out of pure luck. The smooth surface of the temple betrayed no possible entry points, windows or handles.

It has been a long time since any confirmed entry inside the fortress, aditionally settlers from Forard never ventured close and the jedi imposed a ban on it's followers to never come near it. The only settlements consisted of scattered encampments, their campfire smoke was visible from miles away, but none resided in the actual dead zone, instead they skirted the vegetation line at the edge. The zone made for a handy landing point but not much more.

Lok had different sources, he noticed the fortress lost most of it's blue glowing veins, the features might still be there, but little light came from it. Whether he spoke of this was his decision.

The Sith Lord whipped out his massive, erect, hardened, pulsating and absolutely throbbing datapad and loaded a series of images onto it.

He looked up at the fortress.

Down on the datapad.

At the fortress.

At the datapad.

"Oh wait, I see." He stated as he unhooked his faceplate and looked at the fortress again excitedly. After a few seconds, the excitement in his voice dissipated. "That didn't help."

Azrael attached his mask again and turned to his compatriots. "So... Anyone, see the entrance...?"

Lok sighed.

"From records, the fortress apparently has no door on the outside. In ages past it was confirmed that the fortress had subterranean passages that led inside. We simply need to find them."

He contacted Arkanus.

"See if you can use the dark lady to scan for any underground passages, they're our only way inside."

He turned back to Azrael.

"Notice the veins on the fortress. They're much dimmer than the images led us to believe. With luck this might mean the fortress has lost much of its power, and thus we may have less traps to deal with, among other things."

Arkanus had little luck, something interfered with the systems. Very little useable data actually streamed through, not enough to form an image. The disruption was stronger, the closer he came to the fortress. By flying outside the deadzone for a moment, he confirmed that the disruption largely coincided with it. Looking for underground tunnels would be futile from the air.

The light was indeed dim, but the fortress was ever so imposing. It had more of a slumbering rather than active air, but beasts slumber too.

Lok's eyes are drawn to the dead zone's edge settlements in the distance. Arkanus had to fly over them to confirm the jamming radius, but due to their proximity to the edge of the dead zone there wsa not much he could tell the pair about the settlements themselves. They were largely mudhuts with primitive settlement walls, suggesting a post nomad lifestyle. He could see salvaged heaps of metal and tech scattered. There were also small hills of a different kind, A landscape in bumps, the bumps had a different color than the surrounding earth and had smaller vegetation.

Azrael noted how Lok's eyes wandered off to the settlements edging the dead zone of the Almas fortress. He sighed silently to himself at the thought of what lay ahead.

"No, no Lok. Not that way, for the love of the Emperor, not that way."

"Yes that way. Right now it's our best chance to find the entrance, though you can stay here if you wish. Oh, and don't forget I have no love for the Emperor." Lok said with a smile.

Lok said with a smile. He made his way to the settlements, and his companions followed. When arriving he looked for someone he could talk to about the location of the entrance.

Azrael coughed into his hand.

The settlement that they arrived at had what could be described as huts that somewhat outclass your average mud huts. A circular town centre reinforced on the outside by two stone walls, the outer wall was only waist high, half of the town was built up against one of the steep hills they could see from a distance. It was only 10 metres high and barely larger than the town itself. Makes one wonder why they did not build the settlement on the hill itself. A strange aura falls over the party as they enter, as if the deadzone numbed their sense before. The familiar presense of the dark side, but rather of people that wallow in it instead of use it. The settlement looked small from a distance but housed a lot of citizens, the hutts were built incredibly close by each other and streets were narrow. There were both humans and aliens present, most payed them no heed, the party saw a few mon calamari (their presence everywhere in these sectors were noted due to the federation), omwati etc.

Sparse hooded figures of which the robes barely concealed their armor forms, did gaze at the party and did not let their eyes wander. The common populace seemed to put their faith on handling newcomers on these figures, yet they made no effort to greet them.

Lok observed the village, seeing if he could find a building that looked like the one in charge would reside in. Failing that he would ask the guards about the temple.

The tall cramped housing and thicc mobs obscured anything that could pass for a governmental building, thinking logically it might be deeper down against the hillside.

Aproaching the guards made them subtely retract closer to the center, the distance remained the same.

Lord Azrael observed the locals, the guards in particular. His eyes drawn to their weapons, armour, architecture and attire in roughly that order of importance. These primitives were beneath his notice but perhaps there was more to them than meets the eye.

After all, they did manage to survive on a desolate backwater planet saturated with dark side energies. If they proved themselves he might even kidnap a select few and drop them off on Korriban, just to test their resilience even further.

Lok noticed the guards backing away, and that they seemed to be moving specifically towards the center. He decided to keep moving towards them, wondering if yhey could lead him to what he seeks. He and his companions were vigilant for any potential ambushes

The guards seemed to disperse immediatly once they passed a first housing row. Seemed, because it happened as subtely as the whole retreat itself. It was not an ambush as the distance was kept, even increased perhaps if they could have see where they dissapeared to.

The silence and absence of the deadzone was deafening. This settlement was definately built when the edge ran away from it, but it has sence overtaken the walls, not as a siege weapon but as a creeping slumber underneath the cracks of the earth. This is something one of the duo felt intuitively due to his experience, the other was a bit in the dark still and unsure of what this weirding presence was. After all the settlement did not seem to be part of the zone from afar, it enjoyed the hills and vegetation nearby. Records and visuals show the zone grew ofcourse but this far? It was not immediatly apparent, unlike the barren cracked soil of the center. [he who coments first gets to interpret who is the dummy and who is the smartie here]

What puzzled both, as neither had an immediate answer for it, is the creeping image of the fortress in the corners of their eyes, as if it was always there right over their shoulder out of their line of sight, a vague silhouette that would alert any animal. It seemed clearer, larger and more visible than it has ever been, but when they turn to look at it directly it seems 10 km away, small and shrouded as it should be.

The dissapearance of the hooded figures seemed to activate the busybodies on the streets, or rather put focus on the newcomers b yomission of their safety net. People did ot speak or approach them, rather treat them as a taboo.

The deadzone's presence was lost to Lok, likely due to him moving away from the pull of the dark side, no doubt Azrael would have been able to sense it better. He noted the tricks being played on his eyes with the fortress, and tried not to focus too much on it, as jarring as it was.

Lok decided to make his way to the high ground, attempting to get a better view of the settlement in order to find what he needed.

Getting to nearby highground would mean going outside the settlement, around the walls and climbing the hill it is built against. Or breaking into a nearby house and go to the roof.

After seeing where the high ground was located, Lok let out a sigh of frustration, he didn't have time for this. He looked for the nearest guard, and with the force, lifted him and pulled him towards him, stopping him a few feet away.

"Now I have a few questions to ask, and I have very little patience. Do you understand?"

The people around them dispersed in panic. Before even that the other guards knew what had happened the moment he got pulled towards the sith. The one figure Lok grabbed towards him changed color to a furious red lashing out helplessly. It seemed to care little for actually replying, either he did not know basic or he was too furious to answer.

The other guards who sensed the act, sounded an alarm. They trained their rifles and fired on the figures without warning shots or hesitation. Likely this is not the first disturbance they had to deal with in recent memory.

Azrael ignites his lightsaber, sparking its brilliant scarlet colour to life with the flick of a switch. Due to the diplomatic approach Lok had insisted upon, Azrael's awareness wasn't quite what it would ordinarily be.

His mind raced, his thoughts a jumble. He didn't even have time for a quip at Lok's expense.

Caught by surprise; his first instinct was appropriate, unguarded or not, he began to reflect the incoming fire as best he could. His second instinct was to evade, seek cover and assess the situation from a safe position.

Side-stepping and deflecting the attack with his lightsaber he dashed for the nearest safe spot to be found.

Lok sighed in annoyance, he knew it was likely to happen but he was hoping they might not start firing instantly. He instinctively moved his prisoner in the way of the incoming blaster bolts, letting him absorb the shots. He then ignited his saber, as did his eternals. DI also drew his weapon.

"DI, blasters to stun, we still need to interrogate someone."

He shouted to Azrael.

"Looks like you have your slaughter now! Just make sure you leave someone alive!"

Lok and his group also moved for cover, taking a more defensive stance. They had no qualms cutting down anyone if they got too close however.

Reply Good karma+1 vote

Whilst moving to cover themselves, the guards were smart enough not to fire on the floating body as much as the sith expected. They simply switched fire to Azrael and DI.

They used the natural cover of the buildings that these guards either inhabited or climbed into before and after the group was spotted entering the village. A few of them strapped into large caliber fixed laser cannons hinged or placed ontop of balconies at the entrances of the tiny bazaar like streets.
These canons aimed for Lok.

With a relatively safe position secured it was time for Azrael to think of a quip to retort to his red-skinned, lighter-side oriented comrade in arms.

"And you're horrible at negotiating! Should've asked the Arbiters instead!"

With his flanks secured by the building and most attention being diverted to the trio of Eternals and droid, holding ground steadfastly in the most exposed manner possible, the cunning and dare I say charming Sith Lord was able to lower his guard for a moment to Force Slightly-Push the cannons away from the Sith Eternal and his merry band.

Lok laughed at that. What a useless organisation they were.

He was impressed by the guards' self restraint. He used it to his advantage and kept the prisoner between him and them. DI and the Eternals ran for cover, DI firing back while moving and the Eternals deflecting and reflecting any shots sent their way. Lok noticed the canons but saw their aim getting adjusted, and used it to move into cover as well. They moved into the nearest street and forced their way into a building occupied by the guards. They cut down everyone they could find in the building, especially the ones manning the canons.

With the Eternals taking hold inside a building the Imperial Sith realized that he should probably do the same and preferably enter the same building they did.

- the hill the town center is built against is actually a spoil tip (subverted your expectations)
- tunneling waste from tunnels they have been machinally digging towards the temple
- most of them have been strangely compelled to reach the temple but after the last visitors entrances above ground yielded nothing
- the tunnel entrances are most likely near the hill
- you have alerted all the other guards of having used this force power

Azrael listens intently to Lok as he explains what he had learned from the strange alien. Tunnelling their way into the fortress could prove interesting but also very dangerous. The pyramid had stood for several thousand years undisturbed, to suddenly undermine it could introduce weaknesses in its ageing structure. Alternatively, it would not phase the monument whatsoever.

The Imperial Sith Lord made it clear that he preferred to find the conventional entrance rather than risk damaging the fortress. He also mumbled something along the lines of possibly calling in reinforcements to wipe out the settlers in town.

Within moments TIE starfighters shriek over head, strafing buildings and anything that moves without hesitation. Well, except the specific building Azrael and Lok and co were in, spared the devastation by his personal beacon.

Azrael reignites his burning red Sith lightsaber and steps out, walking about the ruin and explosions. Any alien fighter that targets him is repulsed by his strong, combat style.

Soon after, Imperial landers touch down and deploy Stormtroopers within seconds. They rush the villagers of the town, butchering civilians and soldiers alike. Anything that is perceived to be resisting is cut down without mercy.

Whatever remains is rounded up and brought before the victorious Sith Lord on their knees. Fallen and wounded Stormtroopers are sent back to base camp.

Lok thought that it was a tad bit overkill, but he was happy that they at least had some prisoners.

"Good, nice and efficient. Now let's see if they know anything else. I suggest sending some men to scout the tunnels near the hill."

"I'll leave the interrogating to you, Lok. I'd probably start chopping off limbs and forget why in the first place. Come find me in the tunnels when you're done."

Azrael gave Lok a friendly punch to the shoulder and departed along with a small contingent of Stormtroopers into the undergrounds via the towncentre built into the hill. He made note of the digging tools and various heavy machinery, passing by a handful of terrified survivors as he headed into deeper sections of the tunnels.

Upon finding an area that could be reasonably described as a nerve centre for the tunnelling operation, Azrael decided to take a break here and wait for Lok. Lok raised an eyebrow at Azrael, not that Azrael would know since his Enclave counterpart wears a helmet. The pureblood made to speak but Azrael cut him off with a gesture.

"Later. Let's get this done first."

The company made their way down through the decrepit tunnels; decrepit not due to age or neglect, but by modern standards. These primitives were lucky this mine hasn't become a catacomb. The Sith muggle resolved to entomb the survivors if the passage to the fortress had been blocked off, thereby rendering this entire venture pointless and a waste of resources. As an added risk, albeit a minor one, this was Republic space technically.

After a while they reached what seemed to be the end of the tunnel/ The large mining drill was there and it could be seen that it had reached the fortress judging by the material that was blocking their progress. Seeing the cracked wall of the Almas fortress the Imperial Sith opted to get a bit more serious and began to reach out with the Force, as limited as his abilities were that is. With ignited lightsaber the Sith Lord went ahead, bathed in crimson light, through the halls of Darth Rivan's ancient fortress. The narrow halls gave way to wider paths and forks, a maze-like in construction. There were switches, buttons and weight platforms; all traps designed to be triggered and painfully kill lesser invaders. Were it not for the keen sensors of Lok's war droid, Azrael would probably have fallen prey to at least one of the dormant traps.

"It's win-win, really. I borrow it for a venture and return it to you better than before."

Ahead was a sealed off double door, large and imposing with an intricate series of carvings etched into it. Clearly a puzzle of sorts, but the pureblood's droid warned of another trap just lying ahead in front of the door. It was unable to discover its trigger however.

Lok had DI carefully scan the carvings, hoping to gain insight as to how the mechanisms worked. Whatever the trap was, it would likely activate if they did something wrong.

DI's scans revealed that the carvings had certain areas that could be pressed down. The carvings depicted what Lok could only assume to be Rivan, and his discovery of Revan's holocron. Likely there was some order to press down the carvings, but Lok wasn't entirely familiar with Rivan's history.

He turned to Azrael.

"I don't suppose you would have a solution?"

Description

Rivan

Boy's name

Meaning
1. A Star
2. Interesting

The Lord Eternal, only the most experienced, powerful, wise and intelligent Eternal among the Lords of Paladius can hope to one day become Lord Eternal, a Lord Eternal is the living embodiment of balance in the Force or so the saying goes. Extremely gifted with the Force, the Lord Eternal is the unquestioned leader of the Eternals of Paladius and commands it along its path.

In battle a Lord Eternal is without equal, its Lightsaber mastery and command of the Force allow the Lord Eternal to decide the outcome of battle single-handedly and immediately, it is then not a surprise that many compare a Lord Eternal to God-like figures and legends of old.

For the power of a Lord Eternal is what one expects to find in myths.

The presence of a Lord Eternal spells great events are unfolding.

Azrael giggled silently to himself as he read that interesting piece of information regarding Lok's rank within his personal cult. It's beautifully written and frankly, it's almost as if he had written it himself.

He contacted Lord Lok.
