A place where ModDB members can debate civilly, and learn from each other's views.
The human population is growing exponentially and with not a care for conservation our resources are dwindling and it's worse for other species. It's ridiculous to ignore this problem. We can't just go around killing people, so what is to be done? Let the debate begin!
Let nature take it's course (where overpopulation leads to a population crash as the environment cannot sustain the population. rinse & repeat until population reach the equilibrium point and stop deviating too much from it)
Oh wait, you are asking for a humane solution right?
...
More education, advance the economics of 3rd world countries (where most of the current unsustainable population growth are), promote more efficient technologies...
Less ethically, instate a children credit limit (set by the UN on suggestion of top scientists from around the world of course) and let the forces of capitalism do it's dirty (but effective) work.
But what about logical means of managing resources so that we're not hogging it all from other species?
What about getting out of here? There is some space in space... Oh, sorry, I forgot - war is easier and cheaper.
Colonise the Moon and Mars. Assist healthcare in third world countries to remove the need to have lots of children to guarantee that at least one survives. Use nuclear power along with solar power.
If all else fails?
Push the reset errr.... I mean nuclear war buttons as we fight over the last resources of our planet. Call me a cynic but things are going to get extremely worse or extremely better in the near future. I doubt that we'll experience an average or slight improvement or worsening.
