I'm wondering where this TF2 "HATS!" joke comes from, actually. I mean, I know a lot of people like them but I've played quite a few games where nobody even says anything about them.
Its an old joke when hats first popped up. Then they started adding more and more, so people started trying to collect them all, so it felt more like a Hat Collector. When they implemented trading, it basically became Hat Trading Simulator, as some people traded their guns just for a single hat. Nowadays its not as widespread as it used to.
I get some friend requests per month (around 10 or so) where people just ask me if I want to trade my hats/guns with them because I don't play it so often.
Annoying.
I've gotten only one of those friend requests, and I've been playing since 2011 (which isn't very long in the timespan of the game, but it has only happened to me once in like two years).
sadly... oh so true, cod was good till gamer wannabes got hold of it
