It has come to the point where every other week the media seems to echo outrage where there otherwise is none to be found, by any sensible person at least. Bill has thus created a segment dedicated to mocking these simpletons.

Meh, of you don't like it then ignore it.
The media like every other business operate under market conditions and thus have incentives to maximize their income. If clickbait and manufactored outrage is going to get them that than so be it.
You as the consumer can ignore that by stop watching them.
By "media" you mean Fox News right?
I'm starting to like Bill Maher, he seems like a smart person, which is a thing that is quite hard to find, and he's funny.
