Roman Catholicism is often under attack from multiple sides, even from other denominations of Christianity. These attacks are often founded on misconceptions of Roman Catholicism. In an effort to remedy this, I (and hopefully other Catholics) will answer questions that are presented here.

Why do you pray to Mary?

Aug 8 2011 Anchor

Why not? Do you ever ask other people to pray for you or someone you know? The fact that Mary and the saints are in heaven should not change that. We pray to Mary that she will pray to God on our behalf since she is so close to God. Tell me if you need more info than that.

But we are all God's children. And the concept of prayer has made God availible for every person to pray to him. I would think that God would love all his children unconditionally and equally.

I'm not sure what your getting at with that MattmanDude. Could you explain yourself more?

I believe he was wondering why you would pray to Mary who in turn would pray to God on your behalf(Or am I misunderstanding?), when you could just pray to God himself.

I guess this still needs answered. However, I don't have a definite answer to this. In my own life, I originally only prayed to God but as I grew more in my faith I found it to make sense to ask others to pray for me and to ask for the intercession of the saints. You don't need to pray(bad word usage) to the saints, but I believe it becomes a very natural correlation when growing in faith.

I haven't been able to find anything on Constantine changing God's holy day, but I think that question is irrelavent. The Sabbath is part of the Old Covenant, that recognized by Jews, whereas Jesus formed the New Covenant which fulfilled the role of the Old Covenant. Sunday is the day that Christians observe as their holy day because the is the day that Jesus rose from the dead. In correlation with that, it is the start of the week like Jesus's rising caused the start of a new life for all people.

I don't deny the Ten Commandments. I observe Sunday as the Sabbath or rather the Lord's Day. It is a difference in translation/interpretation of that commandment.
