When they speak of remastering the games, is this even something possible? The engine is old, the programmers most probably long gone, any dev studio familiar with it long gone too. But he mentions just "exploring ideas". Yeah well sure everyone has that idea ever since. Wouldn't surprise me if thats already been dismissed and thats just PR speak about "we heard you wantin a remaster".

So whats left, releasing Generals 2 finally?! That would actually be something I would really welcome.

Well whatever it is that they got in store its porbably better than there being nothing. That said I expect nothign worthwhile from EA.

C&C3; was awful. It had good gameplay and graphics sure, but it was also a reimagination of Tiberian Dawn sorta that continued the story after Tiberian Sun and ewww the story was awful as was the acting. Kane's Wrath not continuing the Scrin story and the cliffhanger ending...

Not sure if I even want something from the lead producer of these two games. Even Generals 2 looked goofy as if it tried to mimic Red Alert 3.

A 3D Tiberian Sun would be nice so they could remaster that, the mods that attempt this aren't out yet either.

Or heck even better, instead of making yet another Titanfall or a future Battlefield, how about a Renegade 2 in the C&C3; universe? That would rock. Or they could finish up the shooter called Tiberium.

Then again it would just be an Overwatch clone with microtransactions from Battlefront 2... ewww. But the news of there being something has me excited.

wasnt the idea to remake all the old games after generals 2, now they will remaster instead. ok will see what they have to show.

renegade 2 would be be a good move,
Battlefield Tiberian Sun would be amazing!

I am willing to listen to what they have to say but wont hold my breath after several mistakes and not listening to fans time after time

remember the company slogan

PLEASE DONT RUIN THIS AGAIN LIKE THE LAST 3 TIMES!

Some sort of re-release of the unfinished Generals 2 would be cool, at the end of the day, Generals will always be my baby, but nevertheless, any of the old stuff (which seems like, everything, including Tiberian Twighlight [shudder]) being remastered would be awesome because hell, the RTS scene at the moment is DRY.

Also I wonder how viable Generals is in these modern politically driven times, I remember even back in the day the GLA workers' shoes upgrade turned some heads, would hate to think of the outrage coming from people these days when a suicide bomber comically says "I love a crowd!"

I love these games and will keep playing them on my PC for ages to come, but damn, please let this be true.

I just hope they arent getting jealous of the fan/mod community and pull a CBS and start shutting down fan projects like what was done to the Star Trek community.

^If anyone hasn't followed that debacle, you should look it up to understand my fears.

Projects like Renegade X, & Generals Evolution and even Tiberian Sun Rising are ones that stick out in my mind the most for being at risk. And of course with me being the creator of the Tiberian Dawn Redux mod, it would be fair to assume that it could also be on their radar as well which rightfully gives me cause for concern.

I think its very unlikely because the backlash would be enormous. EA also worked a bit together with the modding community in the past. XWIS comes to mind. As long as nobody tries to make money by modding they seem cool with it. They even tolerated the mods that tried to remake Generals 2 at a time when Generals 2 was still gonna come out.

Newer games weren't moddable because of always online and the engine being Frostbyte.

The legitimacy of modding is mostly just goodwill and fear. Its a grey area.

I'd imagine if a mod has far more players playing in MP than a new C&C game then they'll start to question it.
