Area 88 is a classic Manga and Anime series that tells the story of a mercenary air force's pilot "Shin Kazama".

My tastes in the visual style of anime is more 90's this is more 80's ish to me :P.
Although i did appreciate the detail in macross which was a product of the 80's, but that kinda set the bar in terms on visual detail.
I don't know why, but it just seems as if the mechanical complexity and detail of things suddenly disappeared.
Maybe its just a different sleek modernized style, Maybe people lost interest in drawing it ... I dunno
Wow, I actually just finished watching the anime to this, good but I'd like to read the manga!
