Procedural modeling can be a huge bonus to small teams that want to create diverse worlds. We needed to create piers. 3 of them.
does anyone have a good way of making a rope for a sailing ship?
i would like to keep the poly count low so cylinders are not the most ideal way of doing it.
isn't there some way to put a rope texture on a spline? like light trail effects in some games?
btw: i work with 3ds max, and it has to be exported to unity. so it has to work outside the 3ds render engine.
many tnx,
I don't know if this will work but i think a low poly cylinder set to follow a path might work otherwise your best bet is alpha planes of rope textue. Follow this link Forums.cgsociety.org

I have 3 models in 3D max, I do not know to do UV mapping.
Would anyone like to do UV mapping model for the 3?
It would be best for you to learn practise uv mapping simple primitive objects such as boxes and spheres and cylinders there are plenty of resources in tutorial about it as i see it any 3D artist worth his salt should learn how to UV map a model himself its really not that hard its just dull :)
