Vios is the new Sci-fi RPG game we are working for. The story takes place in the year 5’944 where humankind has no memory, no story. Greeting RPG lovers !

In this monthly’s update Antonio gives you a high level overview of the progress for VIOS, our top-down RPG set in a distant future where technology is rare and misunderstood.

Dialogues
The dialogs are created from a plug-in that we have strongly adapted to cover our needs. This is the Dialogue System developed by Pixel Crusher.
This tool allows our team and mainly our author to create dialogues with nodes. Thus, we are able to create complex discussions based on conditions (karma, skills, quest objects,…). We have also created custom scripts to trigger cutscenes at the end of dialogues or when the player uses a specific response.

Inventory
For the inventory we started with the DevDog plug-in: Inventory Pro. This tool is very flexible and allows us to adapt it to our needs.
We have opted for a realistic type of inventory, namely, that it will be limited in space and weight. Indeed, it will be possible, for the player, to carry according to his strength.
Finally, team members will also be able to exchange materials among themselves. However, this feature is not yet implemented.

Cinemachine
We finally updated Unity to take advantage of the new version of Timeline and Cinemachine.
Thus, we are now able to trigger cutscenes in a much simpler way. In addition, we use Cinemachine’s procedural system to control the virtual cameras.
Finally, using a “standard” Unity package will facilitate future updates.

Cheers,
Antonio
