Acting as an elite soldier, players of "Vietcong" command the A-team, part of the U.S. Special Forces, in realistically represented Vietnamese environments. Players will lead as many as six expertly trained soldiers through 20 dramatic missions, and follow a storyline that captures the danger, fear and unpredictability of the war itself. The full-featured multiplayer mode also allows gamers to play as U.S. Special Forces or Vietcong soldiers and to battle over specially designed levels. In "Vietcong," the player chooses from more than 25 weapons, including M16's, grenade launchers and sniper rifles. Players can order air strikes or ambush enemy patrols, but success ultimately depends on their ability to keep a level head in the thick of intense action.

Thank you very much for your hard work! Can you please also tweak objects LOD in the next patch? There is no level of detail fading anymore on players, but there is aggressive lod on weapons and trees/rocks... Also, can you look into weapon clips and make them stay on the ground for a long time, just like enemy bodies? Or maybe make bullet holes permanent... Thank you.

I dare bother you for I encounter a nasty bug. My cursor gets stuck in the main menu. Luckily there is a second invisible cursor thanks to whom I am able to select and enter the game.
However the stuck cursor also figures in combat...
I'd be grateful for any piece of advice!

I got very low FPS when im Ingame, anyone knows a solution for this? I´ve tried changing the options in the VCStarter a bit but nothing helped.
Okay I installed it without the fix now the FPS are fine aaaand, and thats the reason im writing again, apparently the game runs without crashing on Windows 10. Played the base game and Fist Alpha, without getting any crashes upon radio appearance.

Installing the VCStarter 1.7 BETA fixed the low fps issue for me

hi,i can't find a way to start Fist Alpha,any help?
So here's the problem. After I installed Vietcong and then updated it to 1.65.1 - in the suggested sequence - I load it up. I get a metric f***ton of errors that say something about "Enable Texture" or something along those lines. Then the game starts up. It all moves fine; but then as soon as I tried playing the tutorial, it progressed to a black screen and stayed there. Tried Alt+F4, Task Manager, nothing. So I then manually turned my PC off.
Restarting the computer left the game in a worse state. It went straight to the main menu before just flat out freezing. Another reboot.
Any idea why this is happening? I got this update specifically because I'm using Windows 10.

Hi and at first thx alot for your work! my problem is that the vcstarter wants directx 8.1 and iam not able to install that. please tell me iam 2 dumb and there is a easy way 2 get vietcong runnin`. best game of my youth^^

No you're not dumb, Later versions of Direct X include the older versions, so you shouldn't need to install v8.1, which by todays standards is ancient. You should be able to skip the installation. Not installed this yet, so don't know exactly how, but usually you just press a continue button.
I remember this coming out. I was really into Line of Sight Vietnam at the time but Vietcong was on a different level, with lots of maps from the modding community and a great community. I also got into Battlefield Vietnam (BFV) and Men of Valor (MOV). Vietcong and BFV were the best for online play. I loved Men of Valor, but most of the servers were inhabited by spawn rape'ers, who would shoot you after the initial few seconds of cool down unless you could run for cover, which was rare. Also, if you were shot by someone, you could basically act as a spectator until you pressed your mouse button, which enabled you to watch where they were hiding. The sniper maps were particularly prone to this, but at the time MOV was the best of the bunch with respect to graphic and realism, but apart from the add on map pack the game wasn't moddable.

too old. please anybody use 1.7 from the official fancommunity websites to get it working with the latest windows with proper hardware support and proper framerate.
