Seeing another thread regarding crazy idea for making aircraft dating-sim, I got an inspiration. Basically, things going medieval, whether the whole setting or just the story style, with aircraft. I got a list of what aircraft represent the class in a common RPG game. I don't know how will I use this, but perhaps this will help others that want to make their own story especially when determine which aircraft for which character:

F-16 - Common/Foot Soldier
F-15C - Mercenary (think standard hero with broadsword), which make F-15J - Traveling Samurai. F-15E - bigger broadsword and F-15 Active - fast blade style
EF-2000 - Royal Knight (Because... Royal Air Force. And I hope TS will create this soon, I definitely need it for my campaign)
Mig-29 - Scout
Su-27 - Axeman, also Su-37 - Berserker (Highest RCS for a fighter and agility), Su-35BM - Warrior, and Su-33 - Pirate
Mig-31 - Archer
F-14 - Hunter (Basically, a travelling bowman)
F-117 - Thief
Any jammer like EA-6B and EA-18G - Sorcerer
F-18 - Sailor
F-35 - jack-of-all-stats
A-10 - Armored Knight
F-22 - Black Knight (Think Ezio from Assassin Creed)
YF-23 - Assassin (Better stealth and combat than F-22)
Su-47 - Trickster or Evil Joker
Things that I forgot:
Mig-21 - Bandit
F-104 - Kamikaze soldier

Well that's my idea, feel free to object and comment.

And the campaign gameplay will resemble Macross 30 which is technically a RPG with Veritechs/VFs as the "characters".

Now that I think about it, I need to know this game capability. How large can the map be with the game can still render it perfectly?
If it can be quite large, imagine sandbox map, creating Vector Thrust: Skyrim ^^
Or perhaps going outside the border teleports you to other map. Is it possible?

(Doing some forum necromancy here.)
Would be so cool to have an open world campaign. Being a mercenary and accepting contracts from different clients, slowly building your airbase and recruiting AI pilots with some personality traits, random battles happening around.
Im thinking more of a GTA style of open world, in wich the game just really generates what happens near you, not those real time campaigns you see in simulators.
Also difficult choices, would you drop a nuke on a city? would you destroy that hijacked airliner before it goes crash somewhere?
Map woudnt really have to be too big, i would appreciate variety more. Snowy canyons, some kind of archipelago (i hope that word exists in english), desert wastelands...

That's pretty much sounds like what I've proposed ages ago.

Dang I took some time to answer.
Any program/modder wizard tried to test something like it?
The max map size.
The random events happening.
The faction system.
Sounds like really hard work.

The faction system.

It's already more or less 1% implemented. See data10.txt in the System folder.
