Set in an antediluvian world, long before the age of the Sumerian and Egyptian civilizations. Unknown Era is a Story Driven, Open World, RPG with Sim and Strategy elements, and some sci-fi, Aesthetically inspired by the world/look of 90s 3D Pre-rendered graphics.

The World:

The exact date of the world is unknown, around the year 4000+ BC. The cataclysmic world wide flood that caused the continental divide had not happened yet, and the continents are united as Pangea. The temperature of Pangea is mild and very hospitable lending to a flourishing humanity that spoke one language. This humanity formed a global spanning civilization, but there are more than mere human forces at play in this world, poisoned from within, extra dimensional beings have revealed themselves to humanity, teaching humanity much new knowledge, technology and abominable practices, these strange beings have infiltrated the human global civilization, and installed a secret group to infiltrate the human global civilization from within to take control, and attempt to send humanity into blackest darkness.




Gameplay:

The game currently features an overland map system that connects distinct scenes (locations) together. NPCs can travel in and out of locations through entry and exit points whether in a scene or in the world map. NPCs have motivations that determine where they will go and behave. (All of this has already been implemented by the time of the gameplay video, except the motivation system which is random chance in that video.) You are able to interact/talk with NPCs both inside a location and in the overland map.

  • Text-to-speech for NPCs (Only default male and female voice currently, needs more voices)

  • Idle system that tracks how long you've been away since last play session (for calculating world changes and skill-farming)
  • Dynamic-Procedural dialogue for NPCs (It's very early right now, will be used with Text To Speech. Something like a light context-appropriate chatbot)
