Select a team of 5 heroes (from 22 total), each with their own strength, weakness, attack type and unique ability, and try to survive a gauntlet of turn based battles. You have a limited number of resources (heroes in your party, your heroes MP, held items for your heroes, consumables and money) that you need manage well or else your party will likely be wiped out.

Summary
You have 21 heroes to choose from. Each one is weak to a certain element, strong to another, and attacks with a specific element. Each one also has a unique ability that either buffs themselves or the party. From this group of 21 you pick a group of 5 you think will work best together and head into the dungeon. Each hero can also hold onto an item that either buffs their strength, covers their weakness or gives them another bonus you can use to your advantage.

Part of the challenge is building a party that covers each others' weaknesses or compliments each others' strengths, but also making use of your limited resources: held items, consumables, money, your heroes' MP, and your heroes themselves who will abandon you if they're injured.

There's no real story, but there is a challenge laid before you. You can also shrug off this challenge and instead see how many battles you can make it through before your party is wiped out (and it will be wiped out a lot).

Battles
For each battle inside the dungeon you face three enemies (or 1 boss). You pick the three heroes you think are best suited to handle these enemies then head into battle.

There are no secrets. You can always find out what type of attack enemies are strong to, weak to and attack with. You can also see their held items and what consumables they plan on using. The challenge then is, how do you deal with these enemies without dying and while conserving as many resources as possible?

There are currently 15+ unique enemies, and 40+ overall.

The battles are turned based. For each turn each of your heroes can either attack or defend, and use their ability (or not), and use a consumable (or not). You can also swap an active hero with an idle hero without penalty. Once you've given each of them their orders, they charge into battle.

There are multiple battlefields, and each one gives its own buff and debuff. They may also have a bonus added, such as extra money, extra items, or a new recruit. Those bonuses also make the fights harder. Instead of simply resisting an element, enemies might either reflect or absorb one, or spam consumables at you.

Items
All of your heroes and also enemies can hold items. Some give flat damage boosts or resists while others give different benefits.

There are consumables as well. Some are simple such HP potions, some give you a damage boost or change your attack type, and others give debuffs.

Both consumables and held items drop in battle, but you also have option of saving up your money and buying them from your friendly roadside merchant who appears randomly every few battles.
