TGL was inspired by the universal fantasy of playing ‘God’ and we wanted to do so in a world that mirrors real life. Movies including The Thirteenth Floor and Bruce Almighty play with this very concept. Our inspiration for a real-world simulation came from the Sims series and we wanted to have the whimsical and sandbox feel of Roller Coaster Tycoon. We are also huge fans of Black & White and thought it would be awesome to grant the user ‘God-like attributes and powers.’ Starting from a meld of these concepts, we ran with the basic premise to make TGL a totally unique gaming experience.
