I'm accutely aware that I've not put an update for a few days so thought I'd write up some notes that I've got post-it noted to my monitor...
Here's a general list of things I need to get through before release:
- Add the bumps / creeks and / skid marks sound effects (Oh and boost)
- Make car 2 feel different to drive
- Update Car 2's blob shadow
- Finish texturing Car 2's front suspension!
- Finish Track 3
- Style the "ingame" menu so it's like the main menu
- Write leaderboard PHP file for the website
- Change /blog/ to root of the website
- Sort out Amazon hosting for the binary!
things I've recently done
- Altered the menu system so that it's "always there" - meaning you can now jump around between tracks / cars without quitting the application.
- Written a log-in / registration system for the website which works with the game. (no longer linked to the forums which was targeted by some spam-bot scripts it seems)
- Worked a few bugs out of the second car
things I'm planning but won't do before release of V1.00
Get Multiplayer working again!
Get the AI better than they are currently (implement boosting AI)
Add a single player game (I.e. Racing AI opponents in a league system with difficulty levels)
Improve sound effects
Improve handling of cars
Add skinning support
Add more tracks!
Are you able to include a few rails on turns so we don't fly off the track so easily?
Also, have you considered making a rally type of track with mountain jumps and natural bridges... etc?
Barriers... hmm
I tried to implement simple barriers and the physics didn't really like them that much. (admittedly, I didn't try for very long) - Not to go too technical, but the flat edge of the wheel, when colliding flush with the barrier tended to flick the car up in the air... (because they are open wheel racing cars) - I'd have to make it so there was some form of collision beyond the wheels....
Mountain jumps and natural bridges.. Yeah I've considered a few things to make the tracks feel a bit more organic, but it really increases the art time (and I'm not much of an artist) - it's planned though...
(I'd love to have canyons and jumps into holes in mountains and stuff)

the "back end" stuff is taking longer than I'd had hoped.. - hopefully soon I'll have some news...
