Stellarium is a free open source planetarium for your computer. It shows a realistic sky in 3D, just like what you see with the naked eye, binoculars or a telescope. It is being used in planetarium projectors. Just set your coordinates and go.

Description

The configuration window. The first thing you have to do is set your observing position and save it. The landscape is a panorama from the ESO facilities in Garching, near Munich, Germany. ESO is the European Organisation for Astronomical Research in the Southern Hemisphere, and is employing project leader Fabien Chéreau.
