Balancing the strength of cards and enemies is undoubtedly one of the most critical aspects of creating a successful card battler game. A game that is too easy or too difficult can quickly lose its appeal, leading to player disengagement and negative feedback.

To achieve a balanced game, I've found that I need to continually test and adjust the game's mechanics to ensure that battles remain challenging and engaging for players of all skill levels. This requires careful consideration of the strength of each card and enemy, their unique abilities and interactions, and how they fit into the game's overall balance.

As the Steel and Claw dungeon progresses, more complex enemies are introduced to challenge the player. One such enemy is the Wildcat Warrior, which is intended to be one of the most challenging opponents in the game. In addition to a high level of damage and defense power, the Wildcat Warrior has several unique mechanics that make it a formidable foe.

Firstly, the Wildcat Warrior has an unblockable slashing attack that causes the enemy to bleed out 5% of their life over the next two rounds. This effect can stack, making it a particularly dangerous attack that players need to avoid or find ways to counter.

Secondly, the Wildcat Warrior has an ability called Cat Recovery, which allows them to use up one of their lives to restore their health to full. This ability can catch players off guard, and it adds a new layer of complexity to battles against the Wildcat Warrior.

Finally, the Wildcat Warrior has stun recovery mechanics, which allow them to recover from stun effects quickly. When stunned, the Wildcat Warrior has an additional ability that allows them to heal to full, making it even more challenging for players to defeat them.

Balancing the strength of cards and enemies in a card battler game is a complex and ongoing process that requires constant attention and tweaking. It's a process I'm really enjoying and it means I have to continually play the game at all sorts of levels while trying new builds. The Wildcat Warrior is my most recent attempt to create unique and challenging enemies that require players to think strategically and adapt their playstyle. By continually refining the game's mechanics, game designers can create a game that is both challenging and rewarding for players of all skill levels.
