Horrible things are happening on the Iapetus moon station. Utilize your tools, your environment and your weapons to try and escape the horrible madness, fighting and running through the dark corridors. Experience a story of an experiment gone horribly wrong through the diaries of the station personnel. Death is final, and it will find you fast if you're careless. Starshock is a retro-esque shooter that takes place in a space station. It is heavily inspired by *shock games and other old first person shooters like Doom or Wolfenstein.
We have mentioned before a second demo was coming out but it never did, along with that the IndieDB page hasn't been seeing a lot of love too. It's normal to assume that the project is dead, however the truth is far from that.
A month ago a publisher (the guys who ported System Shock 2 and some Wizardry games for GOG and Steam to modern systems) contacted me about Starshock. As my school ended for this year and I got a seizable amount of scholarship, this was basically the poke for me to start working on Starshock again and now it’s going through a complete rewrite and getting its textures redone.
We are not sure where this resurrection attempt is going to go, but hopefully it will get Starshock on Steam. Nothing about the publisher is certain, we discussed some stuff and I decided to wait until we get a little bit closer our deadline of August 1, 2014 something more realistic.
The engine rewrite will allow me and Stefan to add more to the game, and introduce new game modes along with (possibly) further mod support.
Here are some previews of the graphical changes, everything has increased in resolution and detail while maintaining the old style;
A lot of time has passed since the release of the last demo, but we definitely haven't stopped! Here's an album of screenshots from the demo we are preparing...
After all the demo feedback, we decided on making the levels bigger than normal!
While working towards the release, we thought that only a demo could help you find more about the game
We are almost done with the game, the TO-DO list is getting shorter and shorter.
While working towards the release, we thought that only a demo could help you find more about the game. So grab the build (it's the same for Windows...

is this project still alive?
i had so much hope in this
If this game turns out to be amazing in the future, send it to steam. They love these kind of games.
Reminds me of System Shock 1 a lot, which is a good thing :)
Fantastic demo, I'd say maybe make the ammo pickups a little more sparse and perhaps have the player take more damage without armour? I never really felt like I was threatened by the enemies, since I knew/guessed I'd be able to soak up the damage easily & this detracted from the atmosphere and overall sense of "crap, them damn robots!"
Thanks! Bullet sponging is an issue we think we've dealt with. We are hoping to get another demo soon with bigger levels and more balanced weapons/enemies
The premise is awesome!
This game was really entertaining even tough I died rather quick. As a guest mentioned, the robots aim might be too good which makes it very hard and I felt like my only option was to stand there and shoot until one of us died. None the less, great game! Keep up the good work. Is there too expect any multiplayer in the future?
Thanks for the feedback, however I doubt the addition of multiplayer due to the story and lack of my experience in networking
I understands the difficulties adding multiplayer will bring but thank you for the answer and a great game.
