III. GAME MODES
Cruise Ship Tycoon Overview:
You have been hired as the manager of a cruise line. You must utilize your
assets and money to try to create a successful business. Attempt to draw
guests and keep your cruise ship in good working order while maximizing profits
at the same time! You will need to observe your passengers’ actions to ensure
they are finding and using the amenities they require. Make sure there is
plenty of food, clean cabins, entertainment and whatever else may be needed.
Main Menu
Once you’ve started the game and watched the opening movies, you’ll find
yourself at the Main Menu. From there you can configure the game to match your
preferences, then play the game.
Options:
Here you can adjust your resolution (800x600, or 1024x768), your color depth
(16 bit or 32 bit), scenery and texture detail quality (low, medium, or high),
and your sound and music volume levels.
Play:
Here you will be presented with the profile book. You can create a profile or
choose one you have previously created. After selecting your profile, you will
need to select which game mode you would like to play.
Instant Action:
In this mode, there are no objectives and no set time limit. You are allowed
to ‘Free Play’ for as long as you like. You can choose from any of the ships
and set sail on any of the courses. This is great for testing out strategies
and learning more about Cruise Ship Tycoon.
Career Mode:
In Career mode, you will start with the smallest cruise ship and need to
successfully fill it out with the proper amenities to create a successful
cruise line, allowing you to gross enough money to purchase a mid-sized ship
and ultimately build, maintain and manage the largest ship and build a cash
flow of $1,000,000.
Challenge Mode:
Cruise Ship Tycoon has a variety of challenge cruises to test your ability to
manage a successful cruise ship under varying conditions. Each challenge has
specific goals you must accomplish in order to become the ultimate Cruise Ship
Tycoon.
Load:
During gameplay, you can save your game progress by clicking on the exit icon
and then selecting the disk icon. Then when you start your game again you may
choose your saved game from the ‘Load’ screen and continue right where you left
off.
IV. CONTROLS
All functions in Cruise Ship Tycoon can be completed with your mouse. Left
clicks will navigate the menu system, while using a right click on buildings,
