In Starship Rubicon, Earth has been casually destroyed by a mysterious race of space-faring invertebrates. You are a fighter pilot whose cryopod has been collected by a possibly-insane AI, who has placed you in the unenviable position of being humanity’s savior. Shanghaied and alone, you must gather the remaining human survivors and traverse the surprising biodiversity of deep space to find a new home.
Starship Rubicon launched in December and we have been elated with how it's been received. Since this is our first post, i'll talk a bit about the game first.
Starship Rubicon is a space shoot-em-up that modernizes the physics and mechanics of Asteroids combined with the ship modification and roguelike elements of FTL. It's a fun 2D retro sh'mup that mashes up very familiar elements to make a fun "casual roguelike" for people that love space shooters.
Like other roguelikes, Starship Rubicon is meant to be watched and as such has received attention from some great Twitch personalities like GamerQuest, Streamfriends and Indie. I collected all the cool streams and youtube videos of Rubicon and you can check them out linked below.
Due to technical considerations Starship Rubicon didn't ship on Linux. We were able to get out great Windows and Mac ports, but unfortunately the Linux port slipped. We will be launching it this year, which is something we are really excited about. We think Linux is a big part of PC gamings future and as such want to bring a first class port to Linux gamers.
You can nab Starship Rubicon on our website and if you pick it up there when it's Greenlit you will get a Steam key!
