Capturing the drama and epic conflict of Star Wars, Battlefront II brings the fight online. Attention to detail and scale make this game a joy to behold, with 16 incredible new battlefronts such as Utapau, Mustafar and the space above Coruscant, as well as the Death Star interior and Tantive IV, Princess Leia's blockade runner seen at the beginning of the original Star Wars.
Inspired by Michael's "PC to PS2 stats balance" file. My mod doesn't replace the stock sides, though, so multiplayer compatibility is retained.
This mod is an attempt to undo a lot of changes that were made to the PC version of SWBF2, such as:
- sniper rifle shot delay/ammo/reticule
- bullet spread for rifles
- rocket launcher damage radius
- number of mines for rocketeers
- bothan invisibility
- ARC caster shot delay
To install, copy the "PS2" folder to your game's "addon" folder. After it's installed, you should see "PS2 CW" and "PS2 GCW" as selectable eras. The "Extras" folder contains two optional reskinned maps: Mos Eisley and Tantive 4. The changes I made to these maps are pretty small and insignificant, so I'll list them here:
- blur effect from SWBF1/SWBF2 PS2 restored
- Mos Eisley ground textures ripped from the PS2 version (looks much better imo)
- distant buildings no longer flicker in and out of existence
- overbearing light bloom removed from the cantina
- light bloom removed from several places on Tantive 4
I also fixed a bug which caused the rebel sniper VO not to play on Mos Eisley, but as a result Han and Boba's weapons no longer make any sound. If you're using this mod, though, you probably have heroes turned off.
If you want to use these maps, go to "... gamedata/data/_lvl_pc", copy my "tat2.lvl" file to the "tat" folder, and my "tan1.lvl" file to the "tan" folder. When asked to replace, click "yes". Be sure to make backups of the originals, just in case you want to go back!
