NOTE: USING THE COMMAND r2_sun_near_border 1 IS USUALLY NECESSARY FOR THIS MOD.
NOTE 2: I recommend using motion blur. To do so, modify your shortcut that launches SoC (right click, Properties). Add -mblur to the target. In-game, motion blur can be tweaked with the r2_mblur command (e.g., r2_mblur 1 uses the most motion blur possible).
NOTE 3: From edwin11373: "Actually, I found a way to make better. In the ini file, the Sun_near was set to 12. I changed it to 30. The lower the number, the higher the quality of the shadows are BUT the far shadows are blocky until you get near them. So, by making the near shadows less in quality you can lower the drastic transition between high/low qualities of shadows. I don't mind having a bit low-res near shadow just as long there's no awful transition."
NOTE 4: The Stalker Shaders MAX settings application is not fully functional. Don't use it.
OPTIONAL SUNSHAFTS REPLACER. This makes it so dynamic outdoor shadows can only be viewed from certain angles, like sunshafts. This shader implementation comes from OGSE.

Note: I recommend using the 3GB Enabler found on Complete 2009's page. Here's the Readme since it isn't included in that link, and this needs to be at least 300 characters.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS for max settings at 1080p
- Intel Core i5 dual core at 3.5 GHz or more, or AMD equivalent

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
- Open or unzip the file "Sockmode 2" and drag the gamedata folder to your Shadow of Chernobyl root folder (e.g., C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl OR C:\Program Files (x86)\THQ\S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl)
- OPTIONAL - > put the bin folder in the same directory
- START A NEW GAME and enjoy
As with any mod, you should save often. I tend to make a separate save for each level, and overwrite it every time I enter that level.

Has Photorealistic Zone 2 instead of the original. Much better texture quality. But BE WARNED, performance is all over the place on my setup (1152p, max detail, GTX 680, i7 2600 @ 4.2 GHz, 8GB RAM). I think this just pushes x-ray to the limit, and the dual core limitation probably hurts a lot too. But if you're feeling brave...

This is the latest version of the mod 2013's? Perhaps you remember that I was inquiring about the past and the PKM MG3 problems (could not take delivery), and the minigun order. So, here we are PKM? Yeah, and I can see how to install the mod in two in a row?

Yes, latest stable version. The PKM, MG3, and Minigun aren't in this version. As for installing, download both parts, merge the gamedata folders, and put it in your Shadow of Chernobyl folder.

Hey Mr Boredgunner, I see you've been a bizzy boy.
I'll grab this puppy an' see how it runs, but a quick question about that 3 Gig enabler, I found it on ModDB but there is a comment or two about it being a waste of time because of Win 7 being brainy enough or something?
So could you post the link / tell me the 3 Gig enabler IS worth putting in?

Hmm I don't see how Windows 7 would affect the game engine's ability to utilize more RAM. I'd get it just to be safe, because I never played SoC on Windows 7 without the 3GB enabler. It's really quick and better safe than sorry.

Thank you Boredgunner, the 3 Gig doofer worked a treat ( I can see on my G15 keyboard ) .. loads fast, looks just freakin' glorious, so thick and resinous with the foliage and lighting. The cats and OL zombies, the scary thunderstorms all making for an epic session.
Only a couple of very minor things stop it from being 11 out of 10 .. the fire sounds are damn nice, but a tad loud, and once in a while I get a weird graphical glitch like a flickering, but fortunately it doesn't last.
So thanks again and seeing the wonder of these graphical features I can only marvel at the genius of LoNer1 and these other founts of technical creativity!!

Boredgunner, or anyone out there, know of a way to get The Bar to play the cool radio music? I only get the static/random noise when I go in. I checked the mod's sound files and found some cool tracks but haven't heard them in game yet.
Maybe leave and go back? It's always playing music for me.

No this is an overhaul mod compilation for Shadow of Chernobyl.
Played with the mod for about an hour and the only problem ive had is the weapon holding positions are not as they should be. They're either completely out of the hands of the npcs or just a few inches off of where they should be.

I feel like an idiot... I tried to play this mod 2 months ago but it always crashed... I tried it again this weekend and i found out that there ware actually 2 parts... I only downloaded 1. st one before xD

I get a Xray engine "BugTrap" bugg whenever I try to start the game. What am I supposed to do?

Just wondering, is this mod compatible with the 1.0006 patch? As well, will Absolute Structures and the Zone Reclamation Project also work with this? Thanks!
Doesn't work with 1.0006 or ZRP, and this has better textures than Absolute Structures.
I just got this game and decided to install this mod. But every time I try to play a new game it just crashes. I'm only using this mod pack, and im installing it all into the stalker SoC folder.
it's because im running 1.6 so never mind..bummer.
I wonder if this works with 1.0006 if you just discard the included bin folder?
sockmode 2.zip is downloading at an atrocious rate. Been running for 10 minutes and only have 0.4/1.9GB? sockmode 1.zip was smooth download.
