BUILD your own ship! EXPLORE space! MEET new and interesting species! You might die, but let's face it: you were probably going to do that anyway. So why not take some recruits, some modular ship parts and an appropriately pragmatic attitude and do something useful before the inevitable occurs? The only important thing to remember is: your training. Or just improvise! Whatever works best, really.

Spacecraft is a turn-based RPG roguelike explore-'em-up where you custom-build a ship, recruit a crew and explore the galaxy. Keep things together as best you can--there's no easy solution when your ship's engaging with an alien interceptor, the Psydorians have boarded, there's an asteroid field fast approaching and there's a puddle of that strange fluid you harvested two planets ago spreading towards that exposed electrical wiring...

Balance care and shrewdness as you manage your crew and see what awaits in your own personal galaxy.

How's this going? I really enjoy the concept. Make it happen now please?

I would settle for a demo. :)

Hey, cheers for the comment! I've been distracted the past couple of months with other stuff and very little progress has been made since that video, but I'm keen to get more done.

A little test/demo is the priority as I'd like to try my luck with a kickstarter, which would mean I could develop this full time, and something playable could help sell it.

Anyway, thanks again--it's really encouraging to know that people are interested!

Will online multiplayer be in near future for this?

I'm afraid not. A multiplayer ship vs. ship battle could be fun, I think, but my focus is on single player.

What about he possibility of LAN multiplayer? People always forget LAN.

I never really considered this as being a multiplayer game, since it would have to be turn-based, but if this is something that appeals to people I'll look into it.

Looks great, can't wait for a download. However, I do agree that the perspective of the ships and the players and aliens seem to conflict, would be a lot better looking if they matched. In my opinion the rest of the graphics look fine and your game idea is solid. It would be good to have an ever expanding randomly generated universe with space stations to buy your stuff, like a space RPG.

Oh, sorry to post twice but my edit time ran out. Will you ever make a mac version, really want to play this! If not I'll just run it in wine.

Yeah, a mac version should be do-able, since I'm coding in Java/LWJGL (what? Notch did it. It's fine...). The only reason I haven't listed Mac as a supported platform is that I don't currently have one handy to test on. But I don't foresee any problems with releasing for Mac.

Since your coding in java using LWJGL, macs are not a problem as long as you include the mac osx natives in the jar, I would recommend a tool called jarsplice to do this. I have previous experience of doing this, having one jar that runs on linux, mac and windows. You should have no problem.
