"SONAR" is now in beta testing phase, so it is time to create a page on indiedb.com and prepare my first launch ever.
The idea for "SONAR" came up one or two years ago. It was originally planned as a 3D-horror-game but a few weeks back decision was made to write it completely in XNA and make it a 2D-topdown-scroller with a focus on good audio rather than elaborate graphics. This was after recognizing talks by Jonathan Blow and Petri Purho which were very inspirational and made me think if you could do an art-game-influenced, story telling and highly immersive title with a very simplistic style. Due to the fact the game's setting is about being in total darkness, being simplistic concerning graphics made much sense. But, if there are no graphics left, telling a story becomes a different thing. In conclusion, "SONAR" is an experiment and a tightrope walk between style and gameplay.
Check out the result of this experiment in October, when "SONAR" is going to see the light of day, finally :)
