Spinning a new take on World War 2, Soldiers: Heroes of World War II pulls you out of the field and into the commander's head. Your group isn't as large as an army in Age of Empires, but the inclusion of vehicles pushes it out of the realm of squad warfare. Some squad based elements remain however, as you can take direct control of an individual soldier or vehicle and aim and move him directly with your keyboard and mouse. This can be used to great effect in raising the efficency on the front line. The game's dozens of soldier and vehicle meshes are all well modeled, textured and animated. The game's locales are very well done too, taking you to war torn Europe.

A very good tactical game. Most of it's shortcomings are from being out-dated & having unnecessarily restricted camera.

It's got destructible terrain & buildings, many types of weapons, every unit got an individual inventory & vehicles don't have magical health-bars but instead got components that get destroyed when hit hard enough.

You can do things like immobilizing tanks by hitting their threads & then plant dynamite next to them when they're stuck. If you do that, once it blows up it's broken chassis will remain & a big crater will have been created, both of which you can use as cover.

If you don't mind the graphics then this game is definitely worth trying.

This is one of the best game that I played during my childhood
