This is Socuwan, a game which in 2017 will be an MMO of epic proportions! Craft, skill and battle your way to fame and glory in a world that is heavily based around PvP. This is a quirky and unique indie MMORPG being created by the community, for the community.

Socuwan is a quirky indie MMORPG for Windows, Linux and Mac. It is highly community driven, both in terms of gameplay and development, with around three quarters of the content in the game being made by the community!

Socuwan has been in development for over 3 years now, and uses a custom built engine. There are no public releases as of yet, but if the Kickstarter campaign goes to plan then the first test servers will be set up in early 2016. The Alpha version is scheduled for release at the end of 2016, and the Beta version around September 2017. The full version will follow shortly after the Beta release, as soon as everything has been polished to perfection without a bug in sight!

Amazingly, Socuwan already has a fantastic community behind it! Thousands of passionate people have got behind this project on social media, and hundreds have even got involved with the development of this project. The whole development process has also been documented in over 100 videos on my Youtube channel, allowing for constant feedback and input from the viewers. Here's one of the latest development log videos to whet your appetite!

Current Features:

  • Real-time, skill based combat system
  • Thousands of weapon combinations and enchantments
  • Mobs and loot system
  • Multiplayer auction
  • Mounts
  • Basic skilling system (mining, woodcutting, etc.)
  • A beautiful and diverse world

Three years of development come down to this, it's make or break for the project! The Kickstarter campaign went live yesterday, in an attempt to raise enough funds for the completion of this project.

You can check out the Kickstarter page and all the available rewards here!

I also want to thank the amazing community for all the support they've given the game over the last few years. Over three quarters of the content in the game is community made, with hundreds of talented artists constantly sending in models, textures, animations, sound effects, music and ideas. The game couldn't have got this far without you guys!

Hopefully this is just the beginning! It's going to be tough, but with your help we might just make it. But whatever happens, thank you for following Socuwan's journey :)

As I recall your skybox is done just using two layers and fading between images to get the day/night cycle right? It might look/work a little better if you made it work off 3 layers one for the sky color, one for the sun, and the last as a cloud layer. that way the clouds wouldn't change with the time of day. you could then also have stars at night that get covered with clouds randomly and other things like more dynamic weather ect.
