Anyone who has played SGW3 can attest to how annoying the game's time of day system is. Anytime you load the game anew, or die when outside a mission, the clock resets to midnight. You spend huge amounts of the game wandering around in the middle of the night, with the only means of advancing the clock located at your safehouse.
Before the CryEngine command console was locked out presumably in a vain attempt to stop cheating in MP, I had noticed that the game had console commands for time of day. But these were restricted. However, it occurred to me just today that if the console commands were placed inside the key bindings, perhaps they would bypass the game's restrictions. Well, it turns out, they do. So I bound F1, F2, F3, and F4 to 0, 6, 12, and 18 on the ingame clock. You simply press a button and the sun is shining. Or not shining. Your choice. Think of it as a super, super fast version of sleeping. You closed your eyes for an instant, and it was midday. Anything to help immersion.
I don't know whether this'll have any unexpected side effects, but I haven't seen any in my testing.
