Shadowgrounds breathes fresh air into the action genre with explosive combat sequences, an innovative weapon upgrade system, and an intriguing storyline. The adrenaline-pumping, top-down gameplay and audiovisual fireworks set the scene for this new action experience which also includes single computer (split keyboard or joystick) co-op play.

Two small (texture replacement and/or with small gameplay tweaks) mods for Shadowgrounds are now supported on Desura. In fact, these two are the only released ones - although both installments of Shadowgrounds have an extensive modding support, there's very little modding activity from the community itself, and more SG levels than mods saw daylight.

Shadowgrounds is easily moddable, all you need is to copy appropriate game files to your own directory in "Mods" folder and start changing textures, scripts, etc. There's also one hidden flaw - there are no model exporters/importers released.

On the other hand, source code of Shadowgrounds and its sequel executables are available. Perhaps there's still much room to mod independent games such as SG.

uhm...I think I found a bug: I'm in the mines, and I've to break through some debris. The dot on the map points to fuel canisters, the problem is: Before I got that mission I went into that room, saw ammo and medi packs and picked that up, I saw the highlight on the fuel canisters and thought it was fuel for my flame thrower, so I picked it up...after that I went to the debris and got the mission, now I can't pick any fuel canister (2 left) up and I don't know where to place the one I already picked up. (apparently nowhere near the debris, since I tried that already).

oh nevermind, I started the level from the beginning (quit game, start it and click continue) and found out that the fuel isn't used to burn/destroy the stuff...I don't like the end, some graphic bugs (the water is kind of buggy, maybe it's only the driver of my graphiccard (AMD/fglrx) but aside from that, nice game.

I'm not hearing any audio on Ubuntu 11.10, 64-bit. Odd.

Can't seem to get it too run on my 64bit machine. Took a look at the scripts and can't see any clear reason why it isn't working. Looks great though.

An amazing game, would be even better if done as FPS. Love the AI, NPC characters run away from your line of fire and hide behind you. AWESOME!

The Linux version i played seemed bit buggy and it takes some time to get used to the aiming.

The gameplay seems to be extremely balanced. Died only once even though medkits appeared only periodically.
