One thing is for certain, you do NOT want this to get damaged. If it gets added along with the same functionality I've been trying to balance with a vague idea of the current weapon balances, let's just say you won't really have a ship, but more of a crater of slag ;)
Also, as a point of reference, this would probably be an extremely weak cannon, though it would have a decent lasting time per shot.(Assuming of course that you charged it for a while)
What are we looking at here, Wazu? Some kind of modular weapon?

From what he said, it looks like some sort of portable orbital cannon. It'd make a nice suicide bomb if it came down to it. Ram it into an enemy, then fire at it to destruct it.
