The AI could use some improvement. Gameplay looks promising though.

Looks great, love the weapons and iron sight!!!
One small remark though, in the video i noticed a few times that when the player is just about to open a door or go around a corner a fight starts there. So, you spawn the npc's by triggering them just before the player gets to that point. This is a easy to make mistake as mapper, and because you make it you don't realise this anymore. But to a outsider it feels wierd. It would be much more realistic when the fight is already going on before the player gets there, so he hears the sounds of it already from a distance.
You could give the npc's extra health each time when they get damaged
till the player gets to that point, so they don't die before the player gets there. Probably easier would be to just add ambient_generics with sounds of fighting, till the player gets there.

Just a suggestion, hope you don't mind. Other then that, great work. Well mapped!

A fellow mapper,
Leon

Haha, yes it is true. I do know about that, this level is still in alpha stage and while visually it's pretty much done, the gameplay is far from being done ;) I've got a couple of messages poining out this issue, and I'm definetely going to take steps to improve the immersion.

Thank you for your input, by the way do you know a good place where I could possibly find some HL level designers? We're looking forward to hire more mappers as I'm currently the only one and there is A LOT of ground to cover.

Have a nice day!

Fantastic work, but as a gun fanatic reloading with one in the chamber but still only having 30 rounds kinda erks me. It's not a big issue but just a little something maybe for immersion ;)

yea look no further than what was done for insurgency and their guns mechanics with regular and empty reloads just steer clear of trying to animate dynamic bullets "like in STALKER COP Gunslinger mod" in the magazines as that takes WAY too much time and just isn't worth the effort for such a small team with limited resources. At least until a stable 1.0 public beta is ready to go that is.

I am afraid that it will be hard to find good mappers these days JackPhoenix. Personally i am very busy with finishing my own mod right now and can;t therefore be of any help. You could considder placing a jobadd in the jobadd section (press button Jobs top page). But there are not very much good Source developers around anymore, most have moved on to newer games/engines. And those that are still around are most of the times working on there own project. I have placed quit a lot adds over the last few years (although i didn't need a mapper though, but other skilled people). And i hardly did get any reply. And those that did reply only thought they would get a version of this mod before release, or were only enthousiastic the day they replied. Because i never did hear from them again, or they only made promises. Except for 2 people, who really did came through. Sounds quit depressing, i know. But its stimply the truth. So i hope you will find some, but it will be very hard.

Much success,
Leon

I already did post a job offer, altho it's still awaiting authorization. Thanks for the advice anyway. I know it is not easy to find a good level designer nowadays, most of people are interested in mapping for multiplayer games and like you've said most of the singleplayer mappers moved onto newer engines. I would love to do everything myself but there is simply no way I will finish this game witin 10 years if I will be the only one... sad but true. I will keep my eyes open tho.

Thanks for the reply and good luck with your own mod!
Jack
