There have been rumors spreading about the abandoned old cloth factory next to your office block. Some say, at night, spirits of the workers killed during the years before work safety regulations haunt the place, possess inanimate objects, and kill indiscriminately.
But you are unaware of these rumors for the most part, and after an intern in your office screws up an investor database, you decide to stay behind and fix the mess. Minutes later, you awake on your desk, and immediately realise that something is very wrong. The lights are broken, your colleagues are nowhere to be seen, and the very office itself has become dark and foreboding.
You know there is something out there in the darkness, and that you should get to the clearing near the main road, where the lights of civilization await.
Follow the trees, find the light, and do not stare at the enemies for too long, or find yourself drawn into the madness beyond.
Now we as a company have a small foothold in the ModDB community, YouTube and Unity Community, we have gone back to Refuge, hoping to turn it into something truly worthy of all the attention!
As I was saying, we plan to do a massive overhaul to the game, and have already completely re-textured the game, added interactive doors and a huge amount of new and custom sounds.
We are currently working on completely re-writing the enemy script, including a new 'Sanity Bar', that will drain as the enemies relentlessly chase you, the one in the preview is merely a placeholder for debugging, as the new Sanity Bar will be a graphical representation.
We are also very excited to tell you that we have been able to get hold of a voice actor to add that little extra depth to the player character, and also have enlisted the help of Photographer and Artist, in order to further improve the quality of this game.
I have wittered in for four paragraphs now, so this last one will be just a summery, all I really want to say is don't write off Refuge just yet, because it is far from dead!
Hey everyone! Due to the surprising amount of feedback we have received about this game, we plan to put the next update to the top of our priority list...
An almost complete texture revamp, new models, and a whole new level, as well as a lot of updating and improving. Sorry for the delay, and thanks for...

A small update just to finally fix the lag issue. Both the Mac and Windows builds are in the ZIP file, this is because it is a small update. To speed...
For all the Mac users out there who wish to enjoy this indie title. We apologize in advance if this is completely wrong, not much experience with Macs...
Although we only planned to fix some small bugs, there have been a huge amount of changes. Welcome to Refuge Beta V.2!

Nice game! I made a playthrough of it. Here's the link, in case you are interested: Youtu.be
I understand the game is not yet complete. Apparently I did not know that when I played it. Even though I loved the game, there were a few issues. First of all, I loved the atmosphere. It kept me on edge even at times I believed I knew I was safe. The thing is, nothing really posed a threat. I turned my back on a mannequin and it did nothing to me. Although I find chasers stressful, I think the monsters should pose a threat.
I got very very lost after I left the building. A little bit of direction would be awesome. It would give the game more purpose than simply wandering until you find something that looks interesting. Also, maybe have some monsters outside. If you watch the video above, you will see that I spent a good portion of the time wandering. I did stop the recording after a bit, in hopes that I would find something. I ended up climbing the mountain near the fountain.
I think it bugged near the end. I just watched Markiplier's playthrough, and he was ported to an ending screen of some sorts. That didn't happen in mine. I was left wandering around. I might have done something wrong, but I'm not sure. Maybe you could clear that up for me.
As a whole, I really liked the game! The atmosphere and sounds were perfect. I look forward to playing any other updates in the future!
im doing a lets play on the beuty update when do you expect to release a version 4
Gave this game a try and enjoyed it! I got totally lost when I left the building, but I didn't want to spend another minute inside! Also I did a short video of me playing through this and I found some bugs near the end of it so: Youtu.be
For the mac file, can you change the file to a zip? Rar is a pain for us OS X users.
Hey, thanks for pointing this out, I'm not a mac user so I never would have picked up this issue, thanks!
We're putting out another build very soon, so I'll make sure that Mac version is a Zip File.
We are aware of the scripting error in our current build (v3) that makes the game unbeatable, and are in the process of fixing it, please wait for v3.1 to fully enjoy the new update. Thank you.
Hey dude, i did a let's play to your game, mind checkin' it out?
I also gave some feedback during the video :)
And also the 2.1 version doesn't work QQ
Hey, I found out that you need to rename the .EXE in order for it to work. If you rename the .EXE to the exact same name as the accompanying folder, the game will run. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Hey, thanks for sorting that out, but I don't know why you're apologizing, it was my fault for renaming the .exe post-build. Anyway, I'm really overjoyed at the response to this simple indie horror, thank you Mantai for the let's play, and bringing this error to my attention, and thank you guest for working out the issue!
Matt
