Welcome to 3DMUVE Indie Games, I'm Larry (Quadgnim) Grant, a hobyist game developer that’s been programming for 35 years, and passionate about game development just as long. As a passionate gamer I’ve played everything but my passion has been space combat and science fiction. I really enjoy an exciting storyline with interesting twists/turns. In the early days of Wing Commander and XWing, I fell in love with the space combat genre. I’ve always had a vision for what the best MMO could be, set in a futuristic space faring society.

Nearly 30 years ago I set forth to learn how to develop games in hopes to one day develop that vision. At the time I called it StarQuest, and it was a big grandiose vision. I developed prototypes over the years in Microsoft’s Game SDK (going way back), OpenGL, DirectX, XNA, and most recently using the Unity3D game development platform. I eventually downsized the vision to Pulsar, a niche mutli-team, multi-player concept for 4 teams to compete in various skirmishes (some of you may have seen my old post for Pulsar on Indie DB). After a while I realized I wasn’t very good at marketing and didn’t have much of a following so I decided to further downsize to a single player campaign style game instead called Pulsar-Legacies. The hope is to gain enough interest with a single player campaign that could evolve into multi-player if the fans desire. The story line for Pulsar-Legacies is a prequel to Pulsar, ending where the multi-player campaign would begin if there's enough interest for it in the future. If you choose to journey with me, you’ll experience a rich, rewarding story with fun twists and turns set in a future space faring society. The backstory was fun to write, and I may some day publish it too. For now I've published an abbreviated version in an article.

I think its important to mention, I realize the once forgotten space combat genre is thriving more than ever. I myself am an original backer for both Star Citizen (SC) and Elite Dangerous. I actually stopped working on Pulsar-Legacies for a while because I felt SC was everything I ever wanted in a space combat game. After sharing the above posted video of my work with some SC fans, I received overwhelming support and praise with them telling me to finish it. I'm just one guy and I know I can never compete with the triple A titles. That's not my intent. However, I also believe sometimes a good story can carry a game. I've also designed Pulsar-Legacies to be extremely easy to play, easy to get started, with a more arcady feel to it. I'm also planning on incorporating VR for those fans who have headsets. If you give me a chance I think I'm building something really fun for all ages.

Please feel free to message me about the games, but be forewarned, when you get me going about a passionate topic I might not shut up :-)

See you in the verse.

VR is working, and awesome

News

Hi all, just wanted to share that I got my Oculus Rift an got Pulsar-Legacies running on it. It's looking great. I still have some optimizations, as the HUD radar and targeted image look like they're behind the HUD instead of in front. Not sure why yet, other than too much transparency maybe. I'll have to play with it. Otherwise its really cool to have full 360 degree viewing around 6DOF while flying. I wish I could post a picture, but there's really no way to do so, so you'll have to settle for my description, sorry.
