Private Eye is a cinematic, psychological thriller for the Oculus Rift, where voyeurism meets mystery, played out against a 1950′s New York city backdrop.

#1 IGN's '10 Games That'll Make You Want An Oculus Rift'
"This is the game that sold me on the immersive possibilities of the system. It's basically Rear Window: The Game."

Private Eye will require you to explore and interact with your immediate surroundings, analyse and observe the goings on outside your window, and travel into the mind and memories of the character you have become.

The objects within your reach can be grasped, used and inspected for clues. One of these objects will prove vital: a pair of binoculars. Navigating with your binoculars is as simple as moving your head, while a simple rotation of your thumbs will zoom and focus your lenses. However, it will be vital to master this second set of eyes as you can't afford to miss a beat in a neighbourhood where everyone is a suspect. Observing your neighbours will reveal their back-stories, involvement and motives, as they unknowingly air their dirty laundry. At times, the investigation will call for the player to find ways to cleverly manipulate or affect the scene from afar.

But shutting your eyes and peering into your own mind will also further your investigation. Visiting past memories from before the accident to even way back when you were a kid will help you piece together this puzzle. As your exploration of the outside world deepens, more memories will be unlocked and others will become clearer. Each memory can be explored just as in the present day scene, but whilst a player can affect the route of the plot line in the present day - ensuring no one play-through is quite the same - in memory mode, memories will crumble if the player strays from the true course of events.

Open your eyes - you've been in an accident. You're told you will never walk again.Back in your apartment you struggle with a thick fog that now engulfs your memory. The accident has not only paralyzed your body but also your mind. You stare hopelessly out of the window in an attempt to recognize a now alien New York neighborhood. In amongst a sea of seemingly foreign possessions, a pair of old, warn binoculars hold your gaze. Slowly, the fog begins to clear as the first glimpse of your past emerges...

Private Eye puts the player in the role of a 1950′s New York detective, faced with the task of piecing back together his memory after an accident has left him with severe memory loss. But in the city that never sleeps, this detective has even bigger concerns: a high profile murder has taken place on his doorstep, and there are fears the killer will strike again. Confined to his apartment but armed with a pair of binoculars, he must use his unique vantage point to unmask the killer. However, with his memory no longer intact, everybody's a suspect. But this all feels too familiar... Does the answer to this mystery already lie somewhere within himself? This is one investigation which will lead him outside of his window and inside his mind.

Slacker Games, the developer of Private Eye, has released a new demo video for the virtual reality detective game. The video showcases significant improvements over the first prototype we saw back when the game was Greenlit in 2014 - a prototype initially created for the Oculus VR Game Jam.

Police Car

The game casts you in the role of a detective who has been crippled after a car accident, no longer able to walk. This premise ties in well to the seated VR experience of the Oculus Rift, removing locomotion from the game outside of controlling your wheelchair as a vehicle. Still, even without the use of his legs, the detective continues to work on a case from his wheelchair.

You can investigate and interact with objects, examine clues, and talk to other characters - all in an effort to uncover who is behind a string of murders in 1959's New York City. Though Private Eye is already Greenlit, the game will be launching a Kickstarter campaign sometime in the near future.
