We know that you’ve been waiting for this, but are you ready? Join the Mercenaries and thrill in the suspense of overcoming a hostile environment. Be the Dinosaur to stalk and terrorize your prey.
This is the third installment of gameplay footage for Primal Carnage, the online multiplayer game of dinosaur vs. human. The cast of characters continues to expand, the graphics improve, the environment comes alive, and more elements of the gameplay begin to emerge.
Primal Carnage is still in Alpha development, meaning that much of what you see is in an unfinished state or subject to change, but we received such positive feedback for the playable demo we exhibited at PAX Prime that we knew it was time for another video. We are proud to show off some of the progress that has been made.
All footage in this video is entirely unscripted. It is the actual gameplay which occurred in just one of our regular internal QA testing sessions. The tension, the teamwork, and the action are all a natural part of Primal Carnage; and the depth and dynamics of the game continue to grow with each new feature added.
We hope you enjoy what you see; in fact we’re pretty sure you will, but it’s only a small taste of what’s to come. Thanks for watching.

Looks awesome guys, you've made some awesome progress from when I saw you PAX East!
Looking good.
Oh damn that's good.
The animations and environment look spectacular. The only hang ups are the bloody screens and the repeated Ow! Ow! Ow! when being eaten by a raptor, but with an Alpha that looks this good the game is a definite buy for me.
OMG you guys are making such a cool game! Fantastic!
You know you're screwed when you're against TWO T-Rexes, ALONE.
Where's my RPG-7 ?
Looks like you've gotten far.
Gameplay looks smooth and frantic, animations fluid, and it looks like you've managed to make the game pretty balanced too.
I love how the foliage moves around to reveal dinos.
All in all, looking darn good.
Wow, brilliant!
I think singleplayer will be good, though in multiplayer, playing as the dinosaurs will probably get pretty boring very soon. You'll have loads of people wanting to play as hunters and you'll get uneven teams which can kinda ruin the gameplay...
Still, this looks very good, keep up the good work! =)
What are you talking about? I wanna be a DINO!
Who the heck wants to play human? :D
meh '-'
perfect models! great progress! can't wait.. :)
epic..... get bored of going dinos? NEVER! hopefully more diff types though
Aye, more dinos. Preferably not as a pay-to-get DLC.
I'd like to see some more maps too (or at least concepts). "Don't go into the grass!" --- "Uh, our objective is on the other side."
The game is turning out pretty well. I remember when it looked more like Halo than original, but that changed. Well done! I liked most of it, except two things:
- Velociraptors seem incredibly hard to kill. It's not a matter of skill for the most part, but a matter of luck and a waste of bullets. In a game like this I want to at least feel like a hunter sometimes; also Velociraptors don't make enough sounds. I'm missing their clicking among each other. You could make it so they click/talk, when the player is chatting. That way players can either chat and develop strategy to hunt together - despite being more vulnerable to exposure. Or they could keep quiet and just sneak on you, solo.
- sound is my biggest issue with the game. You're in a jungle, yet you play orchestral music over it. Why? Why doesn't it sound like a jungle, instead? There can be peaks of music, but to have it playing nonstop is just stupid, in a game like this. It destroys the atmosphere its building through assets and environments. I hope sound design is still wip.
In addition to SinKing's criticisms:
Dinos seem like bullet sponges. Playing as the humans looks rather boring. Hopefully the main game modes will be objective based rather than deathmatch based, to counter this weak point.
The animations that are complete look great. The transitions (or lack thereof) are terrible. I see plenty of animation snapping for the dinos, and some snapping in third person for the humans.
The environment has me impressed, especially the way the jungle areas are turning out. What stood out the most as needing work was the rivers. Jungles aren't completely dominated by living greenery, a few dead tree models would be good.
What would impress me the most at this point, gameplay-wise, is to show that playing both sides of the game will be entertaining for more than 60 hours. What would impress me the most immersion-wise is more polish on the sounds, animations, and effects.
Your comment about the song has me scratching my head, frankly. The most obvious part about the song is that it's constant throughout the video, despite the footage changing player and perspective constantly, telling you that the song is in no way related to the gameplay. It's because it's a video composed of edited together gameplay, and often such videos are overlayed with music. Otherwise if you had the ingame music (assuming there will be any) it would probably be very strange having it change every few seconds.
Now, I could be wrong, but that's my guess.
AMAZING! :D
You guys have a very nice game shaping up, cannot wait to play it when the time comes :)
Oh dam! that looks bad ***.
That's an incredible assumption to make from just a few short videos.
WOW! nice progress there, keep up the good work!
HORSE **** ************ ******* CAT **** THIS LOOKS GOOD!!!
Great progress guys, can't for when the game is finally released. I am so going to be team Dinosaur!
Holy ****, I'm glad I had high expectations. :D
