Just imagine if Half life, Unreal and Chasm the rift fell into Doom 3 and that is pretty much Perilous warp. The game takes influence from all these games, and that is a good thing. The game can be creepy and tense at times, and the enemy AI is actually decent for an indie game. If you do not pay attention, you will be in trouble. The enemies will punish you.

Be warned, there are a lot of ambushes and sneak attacks in this game. Enemies often teleport out of nowhere and will pop out from corners. Quite a few jump scares. The shooting is pretty good the weapon models look great, and the graphics are really nice, once again for an indie game. The game has pretty great gore, so if you shoot a lot of enemies there will be blood all over the walls and the floor, and it has satisfying gibbing. You can blow off arms and heads, as much as you like.

The game also has pretty impressive lighting. Obviously, do not expect visuals like Doom eternal or Halo Infinite, but the graphics get the job done. The sound design is pretty good, the soundtrack is definitely worth a listen.
In many ways, Perilous warp feels like some sort of sequel to the classic Chasm, the rift. The game has updated and higher quality models for several weapons that are very obviously taken from Chasm, and there are enemies that also appeared in Chasm. I wonder if Perilous warp takes place in the same universe as chasm does ?

The game is a tad jank at times, and it does get a little repetitive, the level design is mostly okay but really could be improved, I hope you like the colours brown and grey because you will be seeing a lot of that. Movement for the player is a tad floaty and weapon swapping is a bit slow, and this can hinder the player when there are a ton of enemies around shooting you in the face. Enemy animations are also really bare bones. And it is very short. I really wish there was more to the game, maybe some sort of DLC that expands the story or adds another one.

It's a simple fps game, and that's likely its biggest appeal. In a world full of games that are very complicated and have tons and tons of things to do and see and over the top visuals and sounds and crazy fast game play, Perilous keeps it simple.

So if you enjoy classic FPS games such as Quake, Unreal, Chasm the rift and wanna throw them into Doom 3 you really can not go wrong with Perilous warp.
