Outcry is a Tower Defense that follows the restrictions of a NES game. You can build 7 types of towers, each one with a different on-hit effect, to counter the enemy waves from reaching your HQ.
The setting of Outcry is a post-apocalyptic world where mankind struggles to survive the creatures created by the holocaust. With the help of a advanced military robot AI called B.E.T.A. they developed towers capable of dealing with the wild beasts.
Your job is to protect key areas with these towers, and find out a way to return the world to its normal state.
Features:
+ Create your strategy to counter many different enemies with different weaknesses and status.
+ Position towers and upgrade them to get the best effect combo.
+ Dialogue system enhancing the story mode.
+ Three difficulty modes and secret levels.
+ Research system: get extensive upgrades that carry over levels.
+ Achievements: you also get in-game rewards for getting these.
+ Unique monsters create a need to a variety of strategies.
Some new images have been added, including an image of the Tech Shop, where you can buy upgrades.
Now I'm working on expanding the mob database in a way that it requires more strategy to beat them, and the use of all tower types. This way you don't have one tower that is barely at some point, and the game makes you try other tower combinations.
Some of the ideas:
Swarm mob: when he dies, he spawns a bunch of small weak little dudes. This makes the splash damage tower a lot more useful as it would take a bunch of shots from a regular tower to take them down.
Slime mob: or more like a snail, it leaves a trail of slime that makes other mobs faster. The way to counter this is to use a burn tower, as It will set fire to the slime and burn all enemies that touch it.
Conductor mob: this one spawns with a random effect, like speed up or extra defense, and gives the effect to nearby mobs. The thing is, he passes all effects, even the ones you use. So hitting it with a burn or cripple would hit all these mobs at once.
Disables: he disables nearby towers, so you should use towers with higher range to get this guy, or stun him so others can take him down
These are just a few I have in mind. In the next days I'll be implementing them
Free?
It'll probably be like 2 bucks or something. I'll see if I put it on Desura and than see how everything goes. But that's in the future, the game still needs a couple more months of work
Is this game finished? It says released on June 30, 2011, but I don't see anywhere to download it.
Sorry about that, I never defined a release date.
love your pixel art :3
Tracking this game, love the retro art. :)
This looks awesome! I love tower defences and I love the NES graphics. Good job on this and I can't wait to see it finished.
