2020 Edition!

Hey, look at us!

We made it a whole year!

I managed to have a bi-weekly updated exactly on new years eve so I’m going to go over some of the latest stuff for OSB but also talk about plans for 2020 with a rough schedule for the year.

Our Secret Below

I’ve been working pretty heavily on the intro part of the game. The goal is to focus on the first 10 - 15 minutes of game play and have something usable to film trailers, and maybe put out a demo for a Kickstarter.

My goal for an OSB kickstarter would be very small (I’m talking 2 to 3 grand) to pay for voice actors, music, sound FX, and the rest would go to advertising.

I also re-built the item interaction system pretty heavily from its initial ideas to something that will support more of what I need to accomplish throughout the game. This included creating a new item system where you can pickup and item then drop it again through the pause menu.

In addition to this work, I’ve been modeling and texturing more and more assets needed for the game.
The FUTURE!!!!
My goal is to launch OSB in the start of Q2 2020 which is outlined in the schedule below. Though I still have work on Welcome to the Game: The Recruit looming somewhere in the distance which will obviously cause a shift for other products. Because of this, I have to operate as if WTTG:TR won't be happening for my own scheduling uses then adjust accordingly if/when the rest of the game development happens.
You can see my goals for 2020 involve two mobile titles. This is to allow for more ease of schedule adjusting but also to tap into a market I haven’t gone into as a solo developer. These will most likely be free titles with ads. I would like to create a companion game to The Subject or Outstation on mobile.
I also have a plan for a more story driven game akin to something like monkey Island or other old point and click games. However, those projects are so far off in the future that they are kept nebulous for a reason. More will be defined as we crawl closer to these targets.
That’s it for this update! A lot is in the works as usual and I can’t wait to share more in the next one!
