Open-Source reimplementation of Westwood’s Command & Conquer: Red Alert game engine, updated to use the hardware acceleration of modern video cards using OpenGL and OpenAL for sound playback. It runs natively on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. The game was designed with modifiability in mind, but is not identical to the original. Campaigns and mods made for the legacy game won't work out of the box.

I've installed it but when I run the OpenRA.exe nothing happens, I can see the mouse cursor change to a clock for half a second and then nothing, no process in the taskbar as well. Running on windows 7, any help?

Libsdl.org was down for a moment so you are probably missing the SDL.dll which timed out during the Windows installer. I was also affected while trying to generate a Desura MFC file with a fresh install. We will have to mirror those external dependencies, too as the SDL and OpenAL website are not very reliable. Sorry for the inconvenience. Try again or download via Desura once the patch is approved there by staff.

Thanks for the info, I tried to play yesterday with a freshly installed previous release and the same happened... shouldn't have rushed to delete those mix files (because Mud) >_> God, I feel like an idiot.

Well the Windows Setup.exe should warn people about it instead of silently break or abort. This is not your fault. By the way: you can always help yourself by analysing the logs OpenRA generates when it crashes. Github.com

So is the Voxel support implemented???

No, that is highly experimental and will come in the next playtests, not this stable release.

They are engine recordings and not backwards compatible with the massive amount of changes we did to fix bugs in the game.

This project is so awesome! I played some Tiberian Dawn yesterday and it's still such a great game. And the improvments that comes with this mod really improves it. I'm talking about scirmish play, multiple building queues etc.

Fantastic!

Nice work! Its nice to see that those games none forgiven... New engine makes them much better
It would be super to see new engine for Generals in future, without that upgrade- and other limits...

You can try to hack SAGE asset support into Springrts.com and mod it towards Generals. For this project, it is out of scope.

when will be possible to change gamespeed? because i'm using cheat engine speedhack 1,35(only singleplayer) to play this without getting bored :<

I guess changing the internal engine TimeStep is not really satisfying as this won't translate into faster build times and all the animations will look like fast-forward. In Multiplayer this will also cause stuttering. See Github.com with some hints on how to get this done properly.

It should be an option for just Singleplayer, like it is for normal C&C.

In online play, the Gamespeed was set by the host in the lobby, but it could just not be an option at all for Online play like how Blizzard does with the Ladder maps for SC2.

Wish I could install it but the site hosting that zlib.zip is down and therefore my download is aborting how stupid is this to link in an active installer to another page where you got no control about to download some dlls ? Please include those files in the future with your installation routines or host the specific files on your own page and link to them during the install process.

I already submitted a patch at Github.com and you can download this via Desura which features some basic dependency management for Windows users.

Can you make it possible to install music from a The First Decade disc?

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote
Scott_NZ Creator

For now you can locate scores.mix (or whatever the filename is for the music) on your disc and copy it into the content folder which will be in an OpenRA directory in your home directory or documents directory depending on the OS.

This is pretty cool. Too bad it starts loosing performance after a few minutes of gameplay. (It's kinda bound to, if I spend money to build something. If I don't build, the game run's fine) Same on all mods of OpenRa.

The AI is burning CPU with the path-finder on island maps. This applies to bots and harvesters. If this is not this known issue please follow the instructions at Github.com to submit a proper performance problem report so this can be fixed.

I check this and repair one problem with DLL library, and now have another situation (looks the same-crash when start the game) and the statment is
"You tried to load the wrong format" in GITHUB, they dont have this problem solve.
I have windows 7 64 bits. I think maybe this is the problem.
I instal NEt framework and SDL 1.2.

Windows 7 and 64-bit should both work. Post the complete exception.log at Bugs.open-ra.org please. You can join #openra on FreeNode IRC for live help.

Keep up the good work, i love this game.

Xamarin wants money for their MonoDroid API and publishing on an App Store with zero funding and dependency on foreign intellectual property seems problematic. There are also several technical hurts like the limited resources on smartphones, low resolution and we don't have an OpenGL ES renderer.

anyway, should ne nice to find a way to emulate it. like a wine version for android

Try installing Ubuntu.com or some other Linux distribution on your smartphone and then the Debian package from our site. You don't need wine, just mono.
