Next Kingdom is a card game that was born out of developing a simple Crazy 8's game. The history and variations of Crazy 8's intrigued me and soon I found myself building Next Kingdom on top of Crazy 8's basic game dynamics. The basics and some story line: Four races (and some rogue creatures) broke through a mystical portal on Earth. These races are looking for the strongest kingdom (hence the name "Next Kingdom") to lead them. Warding off these races gains your kingdom respect and the first player to ward off all the cards (have an empty hand) wins the round. The four kingdoms (North, East, South and West) manipulate the battlefield by means of limited control over the enemy forces. A variety of cards types are available for strategic use (Standard, Offensive, Defensive and Spells). Cards have certain values associated to determine who is eliminated at the end of the game. The kingdoms go as far as to send out temptresses to calm the armies and send them back where the came from.

The basics and some story line:
Four races (and some rogue creatures) broke through a mystical portal on Earth. These races are looking for the strongest kingdom (hence the name "Next Kingdom") to lead them.
Warding off these races gains your kingdom respect and the first player to ward off all the cards (have an empty hand) wins the round.
The four kingdoms (North, East, South and West) manipulate the battlefield by means of limited control over the enemy forces.
A variety of cards types are available for strategic use (Standard, Offensive, Defensive and Spells). Cards have certain values associated to determine who is eliminated at the end of the game.
The kingdoms go as far as to send out temptresses to calm the armies and send them back where the came from.

Future developments:
The game is currently playable in single player mode. You control one of the kingdoms and the computer AI manages the other three. Long term the game will be fully multiplayer where players may team up or simply control one of the four kingdoms.

Once only two kingdoms remain the game mechanics will switch over to an offensive game where the cards have entirely different uses. Kingdoms will have health and ruin crystals with determine their survive-ability and spell casting ability.

There might also be an element of base and resource management at this stage of the game.

Potions and crafting stations may also be added to alter the stats of cards to make for more interesting game play.
