Development of Narcosis is humming along, and we'll be showing it off again at Unite '16 next week. In the meantime, all of us at Honor Code wanted to take a moment to give a shout out to some fellow indies you should be checking out.
Through the Woods just released on Steam, and it's a non-traditional horror game (which we love, for obvious reasons). It's a "third-person Norse horror adventure set in a forest on the western shores of Norway that tells the story of a mother and her missing son." They pretty much had us at "Norse horror."
If you prefer the sub-nautical over the supernatural, you might want to check out Neptune Flux, a story-driven sci-fi game set beneath the sea, launching on November 15. One of the cool things about working independently is that you can reach out to other teams about swapping assets, and not have to worry about getting sued. If you end up checking it out, keep an eye out for a "blink and you'll miss it" reference to the Oceanova initiative (which plays a key role in Narcosis' narrative).
Finally, it appears we've been beaten to the "best breathless simulator" punch. We met the guys from Orthogonal Games (who also created The Novelist) a few weeks back at an Intel event, and were immediately impressed by their first-person arctic survival thriller Near Death. In the creators' words, it's "not a survival game, but instead a game about survival" — which is so clever, we kinda wish we'd written it first. It's available on Steam right now.
