MyWorld is a 2D mmorpg that breaks the current stereotypical genre by furthering the horizons. MyWorld aims to have a depthful world, creating a compelling history. Languages, migration, culture, history, Alchemy, farming, evolution, a large range of weapons and armour related to the development of their perticular species, Myworld is a World in itself - featuring around 4000 "known" species of fauna and flora and a fully-detailed planet, from tectonic plates to weather patterns to erosion and deforestation. MyWorld will be throwing out the classic "you levelled up!" and "classes" system, and introducing a more intricate system. You will no longer have to make the choice between sword, stealth and magic. Instead, practice your swordsmanship whilst throwing a fireball or two and become what you desire your character to be. MyWorld will allow you to customize your character, such as their "portrait".

Website has been shut down and I'm still trying to sort everything out.

Posted by on

So yesterday I went to myworld's forum. All was good. Went on it again a couple of hours later, and it was down.

Tried to log in on my host's website, to see what was going on, and my account had been cancelled.

I'm still trying to sort everything out, but if all goes well, I should be hosting the site on my own PC I built for the job. I've been planning to move the website to a home-based server for a while now, but I wasn't able to transfer the databases. Well, the databases are now deleted, so that doesn't matter.
(Including the 5000+ page wiki.)

I'll work up some more of Project Earth, enough to earn a ModDB page for it. I'll keep you guys up to date via MyWorld's ModDB till then.

"Help ticket" log below.

I went over it last night, word. for. word. and checked everything, I havn't broken *any* of your rules *at all*.

No, it doesn't say Canceled for Abuse. It just says This Account has been Cancelled, when I try to log in.
Well, congratulations! I've been a very, very loyal client of 000webhost and have pointed at least 20 or more people to this service over the last two years.
On a personal note, you've just destroyed over 5000 pages of information pertaining to a video game in development. This is going to set us back by years.

I'm not one for raging, but this is a complete disaster due to a damned oversight by somebody's laziness.

Is there no way for a staff member to dip into a server back up and retreive the database files?

Hello,

Hello,

unfortunately it is not possible to restore the data, let alone reactivate the account. Accounts found to violate the terms of service are not subject to reactivation.

Kind Regards,

"For security reasons we cannot provide you with exact reason why account was terminated."

That, for starters, is utter bollocks. Unlucky mate, hope you find a solution.

Yeah, a friend of mine had a similar experience. He made the decent suggestion that they used the excuse to wipe me off their system, because we were taking up too much of their precious data.
We weren't even using half of the available space given, in bandwidth or virtual memory.

Ah; also, I'm not going to be able to host the website on my own that I built for the job, because it isn't wirelessly capable :D.
It's an old PC, see, and the router is fixed downstairs, where there is no room. Website will have to wait for the future... Aiii...

Oh, and, with MyWorld's website down, there goes any further increments on my Google AdSense balance. :|

Try using some of those free website things, like blogspot, wordpress and etcs...
There are people who managed to use them to guard info (Text and image links, only, though)
EX: How-to-draw-fantasy.blogspot.com
I don't know many histories of blogspot accounts being cancelled. =3

Blogs are better than nothing, I suppose. Not much for web development, though! Oh well. Thanks, I'll look into it some time. :)
