Myth: The Fallen Lords is a 1997 video game set in a fantasy world during a time of darkness and despair. There are unstoppable hordes of undead and monstrosities, leaving ash and ruin in their wake. The only glimmer of hope is an army known as the Legion as they defy the Fallen Lords' Forces.

Myth offers a real-time tactics setup that takes the player through 25 levels of pure carnage and brutality. Shower hordes of zombies and skeletal spirits with arrows and Molotov cocktails as you ready your warriors and berserks to rush the monstrous hordes. But be wary: sometimes a dwarf's Molotov may be a dud, with weather elements increasing this likelihood. Also, troops' formation can make the difference between overpowering your enemies and being mowed down like wild weeds.

The music of Myth is phenomenal, epic, and dreary. With each level, andĀ a new track plays that set the mood perfectly. Without composer Martin O'Donnell's score, Myth would be less atmospheric and not be as memorable as it has proven to be.

Likewise, the narration done by voice actor Geoffry Charlton-Perrin is inarguably the most memorable aspect of Myth. Playing the role of an unknown soldier of the Legion bearing witness to the Great War's events, the Narrator keeps the somber tone going throughout the game. Each level starts with him describing it as a hopeless battle with the odds significantly against them. This Narrator keeps a good shred of humanity present even in the bleakest of the game's moments.

Sadly, Myth: The FallenĀ Lords has sunken into the sands of time. Not many have heard of this masterpiece by Bungie, but thankfully, it has a cult following that keeps Myth gameplay alive. There are even patches available online that help Myth work on more modern computers. While a lot of old and forgotten video games will remain as such, Myth is one that truly deserves to be played even in this day and age!
