Here's a little bit about myself. My name is Calvin and I had been working on my first Indie game roughly a year ago. At the time I started, I knew absolutely nothing about making a game and where to start. I knew it would be exciting but at the same time, I was also very afraid on stepping into the darkness where I won't know what will be coming next. I was at the point where I wanted to find something different to do as a career as I use to work in the office in the financial industry from 8am-5pm which I didn't enjoy after 5 years of trying to climb to the top. One day I just decided that it was time for me to go find my life back and to find what I want to do in life. After weeks of brainstorming, I've finally decided to step into the wilderness of making a game. I always enjoy playing games myself. I've began playing games when I first got my hands on a fresh new Nintendo console playing Super Mario and Duck Hunt when I was 6 or 7. Making one shouldn't be that hard...boy was I wrong...

Day by day, I go through learning videos, dig through countless forums, test over and over again until I get it right...only to find out later on that I gotta redo it all over again. Working hours became 8am to 12am. It was definitely tough to learn and deal with the mental stress it gives you at the end of the day. There are times where I wanna call it quits and go back to work where I won't be tormented by all these questions floating in my mind, questions like..."will I even get anywhere with this?". As days goes by, people around me are starting to negatively impact my initial thoughts. In order for me to stay focus, I knew my mind set gotta stay as positive as I can. Its been a tough journey walking this path alone when no one around me is willing to believe me. I don't blame them though as even I sometimes don't believe in myself that I can get this done but here I am with my first completed project.

After countless amounts of hours, I am finally done. Of course until I get my list of bugs to fix from the public but it'll definitely be interesting to move on and share what I accomplished with everyone, no matter if it is successful or not. Thank you for spending the time to listen to my story and hope my game can provide you with a tiny bit of joy. Also many thanks to Epic Games/Unreal Engine for assets they've released to the public. Definitely made my learning curve a bit straighter =D

Let me start with telling that this is your first update here, amazing that you worked on this for a whole year without using Moddb / IndieDB earlier. Because that could have given you hopefully the o so wanted positive reviews. Because as a developer you need to hear from time to time that what your doing is great, its as simple as that.
What also amazes me is that you have learned this all in one year!! Really amazing! From modeling, coding, scripting, textures, etc. In your article i read you did use Unreal Engine assets, so i assume now that you made use of already existing assets as for instance all those npc's in your game. But don't get me wrong, when that is the case then it still is a huge task to get this all done in one year!
I have pressed the "follow" button because i want to follow this further.
Many thanks for sharing,

Leon

Thank you very much for the kind words Leon. It was definitely a mistake to not share with IndieDB / Moddb earlier, loving the positive feedback and support I'm getting so far from the community =D I still feel like a little boy swimming in the ocean with my knowledge but with encouragements like these, makes me feel like I can do lots more moving forward but first on how to make my own assets now =D
