Mount and Blade: Warband is the first sequel for the action role-playing video game Mount and Blade. First announced in January 2009, the game was developed by TaleWorlds and was published by Paradox Interactive on March 30, 2010. Warband expands on the original game by introducing a sixth faction, increasing the political options, allowing players to start their own faction, and incorporating multiplayer modes. Reveiws of the game were generally favourable, with the addition of multiplayer the most highly praised element.
Replaces the flat vanilla death sounds with louder, longer screams of pain. Also added angrier British and German battle shouts.
This simple mod aims for immersion. I originally did this for myself quite a while ago, but thought i'd upload it somewhere on the off chance anyone else is interested.
If you're bored of the Wilhelm Screams and South Park-esque gurgles that one typically hears after dying in NW, then you're in luck.
Most vanilla death sounds have been replaced by agonizing screams that can sometimes last quite a little while. Let's face it, instant death is a luxury in wartime, chances are you're going to be on the floor screaming with your guts spilled everywhere before you bleed out. This mod aims to bring that lovely sounding experience straight to your next round of seige. It is immeasurably more satisfying hearing that long howl of pain from your target in the distance right after getting that lucky shot off. Or whenever you manage to break Rammy or Boc's skull open with your rifle butt, hearing them scream on the floor always makes the occasional victory all the more sweet.
I've also replaced some of the British and German battle cries. A lot of them were simply the same quotes repeated twice with slight difference, so I took the liberty of replacing the superfluous shouts with fresher ones. The old ones are still there too. Just adds a bit more variety, you'll hear a bit more on the battlefield now. I'll probably do the same with France and Russia eventually if I can source appropriate audio for them, but just Anglo and Germans (Aus, Prus, Rhine) for now. These sounds are only for male characters. I had Minisiege in mind when making it, recommended with that for perfect ambience.
Note: these sounds won't be for everyone. Eventually they completely overpower the battlefield, especially on bigger matches (realistically so, in my opinion ), which I'm sure some will find distracting. But if you're looking for immersion, this is probably a good mod for you. There are over 30 screams of varying quality, I used the best ones I could find. Chiefly from freesound.org, so don't expect perfection, but all in all, they're not bad. Not bad at all. Courtesy of Boris Johnson.
Note: Do not place the "Screams" folder itself into "Sounds" or it won't work. You must select each individual file contained within it and copy and paste them into "Sounds". You'll know when it's done property, as it will ask you to overwrite the original death screams.
That should do it. Nonetheless, I suggest making a backup of your "Sounds" folder just in case you're not happy with this mod as uninstalling it can be a pain. If you do need to uninstall, delete "Sounds" folder and then verify integrity of game files via steam (google if you don't know how).
Compatible with all sound mods
If you only want to install the death screams and not the battle shouts, then simply copy every file named "man_death" and "man_pain" to your Sounds folder. Ignore all the rest. The same applies in reverse if you only want the battle cries and not the death screams.
