"Two" new things finished up! image - Minecraft

Some guys on the forums pointed out that the second thing might be the lightning.

I think its the chest as it is 2 things.

The Chest has a new Model, and a Animation. Two Things...
I am really looking forward to it, the updates images give a good feeling that it would be an great game :)

It's the open chest, and ether bigger biomes OR the thing that nights are blue-er now.

That is a sand block.

Too lazy to check an old one but that sounds like it might just be right!

Oh my god you might be right. It looks a bit more dull than the regular sand, but it'd be easy to spot from up close.

The sand at the bottom left is the old sand, and all around is the new sand texture. Compare what the sand looks like now and look at the sand in this picture.

no, that's just a normal sand block that's higher and closer to the camera, it's an optical illusion cause it lines up with the bottom side of the chest.

Kind of looks like a chest with eyes, judging by the three or so pixels I can see. Mimic perhaps?

Finally someone that makes sense. See it's always been like this: Notch posts a new picture about something, that picture usually includes a new hint. For example: When notch posted a picture of the endermen, you could see a zombie with arrows stuck in it, which means that arrows will now stick. And when he posted a picture with an NPC village, you could see a giant mushroom. So you tell me maybe there's 3 nw thing which is why the "Two" in the title is quoted. Then again I might be wrong.

The chest was placed there by a player to demonstrate the opening animation.

Like if that's the most important update they want to show us.

Ever thought of the fact that a sand pressure plate would be perfect for any desert dungeon traps?
After all, if you're not the most observant person in the world you can easily walk right onto the pressure plates - guaranteed it's the same block that it was placed on like wood-wooden pressure plate/stone-stone pressure plate - and not realise until you hear the following *click*.
