Welcome to the 19th Dawn of the Dead DevReport! Today we will take a look at the vehicles of US Government faction.

The government vehicles are both standard military vehicles modified for the needs of the forces in the Red Zone, as well as experimental models.

- HMMWV

The HMMWV family of standard military utility vehicles forms the basic line of the Government vehicles. They are available in various variations: transport, supply vehicle, armed variants with M60, M249 SAW and M2HB Browning machine guns, as well as reinforced versions with additional shields on the hull and turret.

- XM1126 Stryker

The US Army's experimental newest ICV, provided to Government forces in the Red Zone. It is heavily armored, has a Browning M2HB remote controlled machine gun, smoke screen capability, and fire protection against Molotov cocktails.

- HEMTT Gun Truck

The constant attacks on the government convoys in the Red Zone forced some modifications to their cargo vehicles to improve their chances of survival. One such vehicle was the M977 HEMTT, which was converted into a gun truck to protect the convoy from renegade attacks. It has all-round defense in the form of 3 Browning M2HB machine guns and an M134D Minigun. A fortress on wheels.

That’s all for today! Now you know what to expect from the factions in terms of units. Stay tuned for more news!

Sincerely, ALC Team.

Hi guys

I have bought a new comp with windows 8.1.
MOW AS1 will not launch and keeps saying MSVCR71.dlll is missing from your computer.

I re-installed it three times and still nothing.
Does anyone select experience this and if they have they found a solution?

regards Blitz

Gentlemen.

Some of you are shouting how bad this game is and so on. The worst thing is - that many of those people are modders.

I am not at all supporting how bad the initial game went. At the beta stage, the game had infamy of bugs and still they are fixing lag in MP. Not many more features are in this game. I would have liked it as a patch too, but no patch exists with such a large change in the engine core.

However: If you knew how modding goes, you would realise how better this engine is to AS1/MoW. There are plenty more scripting options, bteer CTD logs, much better engine management, far greater massive texture memory, etc etc etc.

Of course, there are people who their greatest mod achievment can be a human skin or a new vehicle, those will probably not appreciate any change which can only be seen on big mods which push engines to their limits.

So. If you want the most pleasant modding experience, get AS2.

Now then. You guys also like screaming how childish each other are. Given the life expectancy of this comment is 3 days before it is buried with down votes, that just really explains the largest part of the community are "180 month imbeciles" as Konosmgr once said.

Ahh... Good ol' days those back in 2011, where we just had reasonable people down here... I remember the always supportive Old Spot. Mopar converting other people's missions and saving other guys' time, Sturm beginning to grow through TK. Asureka, Bass and Fastlegs with their skins and missions. Rollonleviking riding the storm with his masterpiece missions... Good ol' days.

What will they say about current community? Is it worth remembering at all?

I count myself to the "old modders" with more than 2k hours in AS1 and still I'm not really satisfied with AS2.
Sure I see all the improvements on the engine and all the stuff you just mentioned but still I think the game is heading in the wrong direction.
Its getting more and more arcadish and feels more and more like a CoH(1) clone. No improvements on Infantry models or animations. The AI is untouched since ages...

Don't get me wrong I like the game but they really shouldn't try to create a CoH clone. And I understand some of the criticism and don't think the community is different from the one back in 2011.

I think for this game you have two types of RTS players, Arma/Battlefield 2 and CoH/Relic Games. Arma players want increased attention to details. Crouch walking, severe wounds, realistic damage and range. All top Down with things like helicopters, rope drops from helicopters, wounded troop carry, improved vehicles and options for them. Etc.

Battelfield 2 players want options, more vehicles, more buildings, larger maps, bigger campaigns, more troops. More explosions and skirmish modes.

Now CoH players want something easy to play Just groups of units shooting each other like decks of cards Jack loses to King Queen beats Jack Jack beats 10, 9 beats 8, Jack beats 8, Ace beats King. Cover doesnt matter, map doesnt map, terrain doesnt matter. Just decks of cards.

We can see that with a CoH you get more $$$$$. So they believe it will be good for the series, but short of removing inventory system this game will never be as simple as CoH. So I don't know they'll just make hardcore fans question their judgement for a niche genre game either way which will never achieve CoH sells. And look CoH 2 is a joke already.

Surely there are a lot of concerning matters, namely :
<> DMS is drifting away from low-mid tier systems, it is unquestionable that AS and AS2 have a colossal performance difference.

<> Ingame changes are also ill-placed, while the german mg nerfs where needed, guns' range reduction and reduced resources per minute is a big step backwards. Also the level system which presumably was supposed to be used as motivation for competition is plain wrong, mainly because you can't get vital counter units for your first 30 games for each nation.

<> Last but not least, after all those multiplayer games on AS2 I rarely feel playing a MOW series game, I have lost more soldiers by trying to cook a grenade only for the game to freeze for a handful of moments and lose the poor bastard as well as most soldiers in the vicinity. Specifically, don't even try to play ranked, most of the times you will get teamed up with some random bloke -having an expedition in Antartica- and ping will skyrocket.

The only game that left me more disappointed has been Stronghold3

Yes you're right there Hinkel. I also forgot to add you to the Old Modder Paragraph

Firstly, like most mow games as2 is mostly meant to be played on multiplayer and by bearing in mind that the singleplayer with mods attached gives you at most 100h -based on todays data- and that if you play on heroic, then you realise the anger/frustration that is depicted on sites like moddb, stems from the game-breaking features which where altered on as2 multiplayer. I am unsure what engine modifications and resource management changes they made but try to run farmland on as1 and as2 and the fps drop is horrendous without much visual alterations.

Furthermore the modding community can't really help it and that is demonstrated by the fact that after 3½ years of mowas on steam ,the only multiplayer mod with a relatively lasting playerbase is gsm and the rest play vanilla of course.

Anyways, as1 was in a similar but much better stage when it was released although dms was on a schedule back then, on the contrary they don't seem to be on pressure nowadays, frankly though if you ignore their designated system requirements and get a mid tier pc, hopefully this game will have all that was promised on release date and a solid multiplayer by the end of the year.

Me and other modders, yes, the "old team" of modders have over 500h singleplayer. And we do roll in Heroic. It might be that only some individuals have problems in heroic because the enemy is hidden until discoveres. AS2 is WIP and it has the potential to become flawless by the end of the year.

As I said AS2 offers a MUCH better modding platform and I suggest that you read the changelog, as well as comments from modders to developers claiming this. Get informed mate.

Every game is a WIP but most are before release, not after. You apparently are not aware that there are poeple with 5-6k hours on multiplayer and have never used a mod or addon. I am inclined to believe given your experience that you are not too ignorant to think that poeple buy a game to test its modding prowess,as a devestating percentage play it unmodded anyways. Last but not least, you can't balance the lack of content and recyclement of as1 missions which alone is outrageous for a better modding platform. Devs don't sell you an engine for you to build upon but products based on the engine, your supperiority complex is disturbing. Refrain from using capital letters to highlight something as they look somewhat idiotic.

Regardless on what people do or might not do. Its about mods over here at MOD DB. And though I appreciate your point, and I aggree recycling AS1 missions and old models is not professional, I am saying that for a modder at moddb, AS2 is the way to go.
