About:

Memories on the Meter is a first-person story-driven game that relives a life in the span of a taxi ride. It revolves around choice and consequence, making for varied experiences in different playthroughs.

Story:

See the town you've grown up in from the window of a taxi. On the ride home, you happen to pass by a couple of places that feature significantly in your past, and memories associated with them come rushing back - each so vivid that they are actually relived.

Gameplay:

As you play through these situations, the choices you make in conversations, actions you perform while exploring the flashbacks, and the way you react to your circumstances will determine the way your story unfolds; both in the past, and the present. These in turn will reflect on the places you see, the people you meet and the things you can do and say.

You may not know exactly what consequences your words had, but do you remember exactly what you said. Or left unsaid.

The entire game is played from the first-person perspective, and features:

  • A dynamic storyline: your conversations and actions affect the direction you take (literally and otherwise)
  • Fully voice-acted NPCs
  • 3D environments
  • Multiple routes to explore with each playthrough

Current state

Happy new year. Apologies for the infrequent updates. Many changes have been made since our last update here. Be sure to check out our site or our Facebook page for more updates. The following is a video of our current build, please keep in mind that this is only work-in-progress, and the final game may be different from the one shown here.

Here is a list of some of the changes we have made -

  • Improved lighting (observable in the street lamps)
  • A more rain drenched ambiance (such as wetter roads, puddles etc.)
  • An improved inventory system
  • Some optimizations to improve the framerate
  • A more immersive world (such as neon signs, the car dealership next to the bar etc.)
  • An easier to understand flashback system with cues such as visual swirl, a flashback sound, a different colour palette when in flashback etc.
  • Visual improvements to a large part of the game.
  • Other minor programming improvements and optimizations

Comparision

As a result of these changes, the game looks significantly different. Below are two images, both showing the same scene (a can parked in front of a bar) from the game. This is the older screenshot -
